It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you go to sleep at night, close the doors, cover the vessels, extinguish the lamps, and tie the mouths of the water skins, for Satan cannot open a closed door, cannot remove a cover, and cannot untie a knot. And sometimes a mouse becomes the cause of burning down the whole house.

After a little while, Sayyiduna Umar arrived. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: "Soon another man from Paradise will come to you," and he said: "O Allah, if You will, let the one who comes be Ali." Accordingly, Sayyiduna Ali came. Then food was brought, which we ate. Then we stood up for the Zuhr prayer, and none of us performed ablution. After the prayer, the remaining food was brought. Then we stood up for the Asr prayer, and none of us even touched water.

So after that, we went to our wives, wore stitched clothes, and applied perfume. On the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah, we put on the Ihram for Hajj. During this time, Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik also came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, is the command for 'Umrah only for this year or forever?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is forever.
