It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy, died, his son, who was a sincere Muslim, came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! If you do not participate in his funeral prayer, people will always taunt us." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to him and saw that he had already been placed in the grave. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Why was I not informed before he was placed in the grave?" Then he had him taken out of the grave, applied his saliva from his forehead to his feet, and dressed him in his own shirt.

Abu Mutawakkil says that once I presented myself before Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) and requested him: Tell me a hadith which you have witnessed yourself. He said: My father passed away and he owed a debt of some wasqs of dates. We had a few different types of dates and some ‘ajwah, which were not enough to pay off the debt. So I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to the creditor, but he refused to accept any dates except ‘ajwah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go and give him ‘ajwah. So I went to my tent and started cutting the dates. We also had a goat which we used to feed grass and it had become very healthy. Suddenly, we saw two men approaching. When they came near, we saw that they were the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Umar. I welcomed both of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), come with us, we want to take a round of your garden. I said: Very well. So we took a round of the garden. Meanwhile, I instructed my wife and she slaughtered the kid of the goat. Then we brought a cushion which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) leaned on. It was made of hair and filled with palm bark, but we could not find another cushion for Sayyiduna Umar. I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to give him this good news that Allah had shown me such kindness.
