Hadith 12739
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَزَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ تَسَحَّرَا ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَا مِنْ سُحُورِهِمَا ، قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى ، فَقُلْنَا لِأَنَسٍ : كَمْ كَانَ بَيْنَ فَرَاغِهِمَا وَسُحُورِهِمَا وَدُخُولِهِمَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ ؟ قَالَ : كَانَ قَدْرَ مَا يَقْرَأُ رَجُلٌ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) took suhoor together. After finishing suhoor, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for prayer and led the prayer. We began to ask Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) how much time there was between finishing suhoor and standing for prayer. He replied: As long as it takes for a man to recite fifty verses.
Hadith 12740
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تُوَاصِلُوا " فَقِيلَ : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ! قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ ، إِنَّ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not observe continuous fasting for several days with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor). Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You do it this way?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: I am not like you in this matter; my Lord gives me food and drink.
Hadith 12741
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، " أَنَّ يَهُودِيًّا قَتَلَ جَارِيَةً عَلَى أَوْضَاحٍ لَهَا ، فَقَتَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew killed an Ansari girl for the sake of the jewelry she was wearing, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had him killed in retribution.
Hadith 12742
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ بِالزَّوْرَاءِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ لَا يَغْمُرُ أَصَابِعَهُ ، فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّئُوا ، فَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ فِي الْمَاءِ ، فَجَعَلَ الْمَاءُ يَنْبُعُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِهِ ، وَأَطْرَافِ أَصَابِعِهِ ، حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ الْقَوْمُ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : لِأَنَسٍ كَمْ كُنْتُمْ ؟ قَالَ : كُنَّا ثَلَاثَ مِائَةٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the place of Zawra. A bowl of water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which even his finger could hardly fit. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) joined his fingers together and drew so much water from it that everyone performed ablution. Someone asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "How many people were you at that time?" He replied, "We were three hundred people."
Hadith 12743
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ ، وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Huyayy, and made her freedom her dowry.
Hadith 12744
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَاسْتَعَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا لَنَا ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : مَنْدُوبٌ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا رَأَيْنَا مِنْ فَزَعٍ ، وَإِنْ وَجَدْنَاهُ لَبَحْرًا " ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : يَعْنِي الْفَرَسَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during the night, the people of Madinah were alarmed due to fear of the enemy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) borrowed one of our horses, whose name was Mandub, and said, "There is nothing to worry about." Regarding the horse, he said, "We found it as swift as the sea."
Hadith 12745
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَزَعَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ رُكْبَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ تَكَادُ أَنْ تُصِيبَ رُكْبَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُهِلُّ بِهِمَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was sitting behind Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), and it was so close that Hazrat Abu Talha's (may Allah be pleased with him) knee was about to touch the knee of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reciting the Talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah while proceeding.
Hadith 12746
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ هِشَامَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ مَعَ جَدِّي أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ دَارَ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ ، فَإِذَا قَوْمٌ قَدْ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً يَرْمُونَهَا ، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُصْبَرَ الْبَهَائِمُ " .
Hisham bin Zaid narrates that once I entered the house of Hakam bin Ayyub with my grandfather Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). There, some people had tied a hen and were shooting at it for target practice. Seeing this, Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade tying an animal and using it as a target.
Hadith 12747
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَرْنَا فَأَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ ، فَسَعَوْا عَلَيْهَا ، فَلَغَبُوا ، فَسَعَيْتُ حَتَّى أَدْرَكْتُهَا ، فَأَتَيْتُ بِهَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ ، فَذَبَحَهَا فَبَعَثَ بِوَرِكِهَا ، أَوْ فَخِذِهَا ، إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَبِلَهُ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : قُلْتُ لِشُعْبَةَ : فَقُلْتُ : أَكَلَهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ أَكَلَهُ ، قَالَ لِي بَعْدُ : قَبِلَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that at a place called Mar al-Zahran, a rabbit suddenly appeared before us. The children ran towards it but could not catch it until they became tired. I caught it and brought it to Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him). He slaughtered it and sent one of its sides to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by my hand, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it.
Hadith 12748
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ " أَنَّ يَهُودِيًّا قَتَلَ جَارِيَةً عَلَى أَوْضَاحٍ لَهَا ، قَالَ : فَقَتَلَهَا بِحَجَرٍ ، قَالَ : فَجِيءَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَبِهَا رَمَقٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : " قَتَلَكِ فُلَانٌ ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا ، أَيْ : لَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا الثَّانِيَةَ ، فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا ، أَيْ لَا ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَهَا الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، وَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا ، فَقَتَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ حَجَرَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew killed an Ansari girl for the sake of the jewelry she was wearing, and crushed her head by repeatedly striking her with stones. When the girl was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was still a little life left in her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the name of a man and asked her, "Did so-and-so kill you?" She indicated with her head, "No." The same happened the second time. The third time, she said, "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had that Jew killed between two stones.
Hadith 12749
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لِلْأَنْصَارِ : " إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً ، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي ، فَمَوْعِدُكُمْ الْحَوْضُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Ansar: "Soon you will see much preference given (to others) after me, but you should remain patient until you meet Allah and His Messenger, for I will be waiting for you at my pond."
Hadith 12750
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّهُ حِينَ وَلَدَتْ ، انْطَلَقُوا بِالصَّبِيِّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُحَنِّكَهُ ، قَالَ : فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مِرْبَدٍ يَسِمُ غَنَمًا ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : وَأَكْبَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي آذَانِهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I brought a child—who was born at my mother's place—to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was branding the ears of goats in the enclosure.
Hadith 12751
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا التَّيَّاحِ يَزِيدَ بْنَ حُمَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْبَرَكَةُ فِي نَوَاصِي الْخَيْلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Blessing has been placed in the forelocks of horses.
Hadith 12752
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَبِي ذَرٍّ : " اسْمَعْ وَأَطِعْ ، وَلَوْ لِحَبَشِيٍّ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ زَبِيبَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): Listen and obey, even if a Habashi (Ethiopian), whose head is like a raisin, is appointed as your governor.
Hadith 12753
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، قال : سمعتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخَالِطُنَا حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ لَيَقُولُ لِأَخٍ لِي : " يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ ، مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ ؟ " قَالَ : وَكَانَ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، نَضَحْنَا لَهُ طَرَفَ بِسَاطٍ ، ثُمَّ أَمَّنَا وَصَفَّنَا خَلْفَهُ ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : ثُمَّ إِنَّ أَبَا التَّيَّاحِ بَعْدَمَا كَبِرَ قَالَ : ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ : صَفَّنَا خَلْفَهُ ، وَلَا أَمَّنَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to us and joke with my younger brother. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him sad and said, "O Abu Umair! What happened to the Nughair?"—the little bird that had died. And a sheet was spread for us, upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer, and we stood in rows behind him.
Hadith 12754
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُ الْخَلَاءَ ، فَأَحْمِلُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ نَحْوِي إِدَاوَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ وَعَنَزَةً ، فَيَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to relieve himself, I and a boy like me would carry a water vessel and a spear, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would cleanse himself with water.
Hadith 12755
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ زَيْدٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَا يَتَمَنَّى الْمُؤْمِنُ أَوْ قَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا ، فَلْيَقُلْ اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتْ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي ، وَتَوَفَّنِي مَا كَانَتْ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should wish for death because of any hardship that befalls him. If wishing for death becomes necessary, then he should say: O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and grant me death when death is better for me.
Hadith 12756
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The nephew of a people is counted among them.
Hadith 12757
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ " قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَوْ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْعَيْشَ عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ فَأَصْلِحْ الْأَنْصَارَ وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: The real good is the good of the Hereafter, or he would say: O Allah! There is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so reform the Ansar and the Muhajireen.
Hadith 12758
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَجَدَ رُئِيَ أَوْ رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ إِبِطَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into prostration, I would see the whiteness of his blessed armpit.
Hadith 12759
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : مَا أَوْلَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ ، أَكْثَرَ أَوْ أَفْضَلَ مِمَّا أَوْلَمَ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ ، فَقَالَ ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ فَمَا أَوْلَمَ ؟ قَالَ : أَطْعَمَهُمْ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا حَتَّى تَرَكُوهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a wedding feast on the occasion of Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), and he did not give a better wedding feast on the occasion of marrying any of his other wives than this. Thabit Banani (may Allah have mercy on him) asked Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), "What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) serve at the wedding feast?" He replied, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) served them bread and meat, and he served so much that the people themselves stopped eating."
Hadith 12760
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ يَنْعَتُ لَنَا صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي ، فَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ ، قُلْنَا : قَدْ نَسِيَ مِنْ طُولِ مَا يَقُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from prostration or bowing, and would pause between the two for such a long time that we would begin to think that perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had forgotten.
Hadith 12761
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ وَحَادٍ يَحْدُو بِنِسَائِهِ ، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَدْ تَنَحَّى بِهِنَّ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " يَا أَنْجَشَةُ ، وَيْحَكَ ، ارْفُقْ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and the camel driver was driving the mounts of the Mothers of the Believers. He began to drive the animals quickly, upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said with a smile, "Anjasha! Drive gently with these glass vessels."
Hadith 12762
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ " فَقَالَ : مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا مِنْ كَثِيرِ صَلَاةٍ ، وَلَا صَوْمٍ ، وَلَا صَدَقَةٍ ، إِلَّا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " فأَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be established?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "What have you prepared for it?" He said, "I have not prepared many good deeds for it, but I do love Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A person will be with whom he loves on the Day of Judgment."
Hadith 12763
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَتَّابًا مَوْلَى ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ يَعْنِي الْيُمْنَى عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with this right hand of mine on the condition of listening and obeying, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) added the restriction of "as much as you are able."
Hadith 12764
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَهَاشِمٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَتَّابٍ ، وَقَالَ هَاشِمٌ مَوْلَى بَنِي هُرْمُزَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : لَوْلَا أَنْ أَخْشَى أَنْ أُخْطِئَ لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِأَشْيَاءَ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَكِنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " ، قَالَ هَاشِمٌ : قَالَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that if I did not fear making a mistake, I would narrate many ahadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to you. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me should make his abode in Hell.
Hadith 12765
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ ، وَجَدَ طَعْمَ الْإِيمَانِ : مَنْ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْمَرْءَ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا ، وَمَنْ كَانَ أَنْ يُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فِي الْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنْقَذَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three things, whoever possesses them will taste the sweetness of faith: First, that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anyone else; second, that when he loves someone, he loves him only for the sake of Allah; and third, that after being saved from disbelief, he dislikes returning to it just as he would dislike being thrown into the fire.
Hadith 12766
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَنْصَارَ فَقَالَ : " أَفِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : لَا ، إِلَّا ابْنَ أُخْتٍ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : أَوْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَمُصِيبَةٍ ، وَإِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَجْبُرَهُمْ وَأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ ، أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا ، وَتَرْجِعُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ ؟ لَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا ، وَسَلَكَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ شِعْبًا ، لَسَلَكْتُ شِعْبَ الْأَنْصَارِ " ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ وَأَجْبُرَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, "Is there anyone among you who is not from the Ansar?" They replied, "No, except that we have a nephew." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A nephew of a people is counted among them." Then he said, "The time of ignorance and hardship of the Quraysh is near, and through it I reconcile their hearts. Are you not pleased that people go away with wealth and property, and you take the Messenger of Allah to your homes? If people walk on one path and the Ansar on another, I will walk on the path of the Ansar."
Hadith 12767
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ وَأَجْبُرَهُمْ»
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us from Qatadah, from Anas, from the Prophet, and he mentioned its meaning, except that he said: «فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ وَأَجْبُرَهُمْ»
Hadith 12768
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، حدثنا أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْعَيْشَ عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ " قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَوْ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَهْ فَأَكْرِمْ الْأَنْصَارَ وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: The real good is the good of the Hereafter, or he would say: O Allah! There is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so honor the Ansar and the Muhajireen.
Hadith 12769
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : " مَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ " قَالَ : حُبَّ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَرَسُولِهِ ، قَالَ : " أَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a Bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be established?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What preparation have you made for the Hour?" He replied, "I have not prepared many good deeds, but I do have this much: I love Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A person will be with whom he loves on the Day of Judgment."
Hadith 12770
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حدثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ : قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَنْذَرَ أُمَّتَهُ الْأَعْوَرَ الْكَذَّابَ ، أَلَا إِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ ، وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ ، مَكْتُوبٌ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ كَ ف رَ " ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : " كَافِرٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a prophet was sent to the world, he surely warned his nation about the one-eyed liar. Be aware! The Dajjal will be one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed, and between his (Dajjal's) two eyes will be written "Kafir" (disbeliever).
Hadith 12771
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ ، يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الدُّنْيَا ، وَإِنَّ لَهُ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ غَيْرَ الشَّهِيدِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَتَمَنَّى أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فَيُقْتَلَ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ ، لِمَا يَرَى مِنَ الْكَرَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person who enters Paradise will ever wish to leave Paradise, except the martyr, who will wish to return to the world and be martyred again in the way of Allah, because he will see the honor that has been bestowed upon him.
Hadith 12772
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ شَعِيرَةً ، أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ ذَرَّةً ، أَخْرِجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا يَزِنُ بُرَّةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare "There is no god but Allah" and in whose heart there is goodness equal to a grain of barley. Then Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare "There is no god but Allah" and in whose heart there is goodness equal to a grain of wheat. Then Allah Almighty will say: Remove from Hell every person who used to declare "There is no god but Allah" and in whose heart there is goodness equal to the weight of a particle.
Hadith 12773
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَا : أخبرنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَخَفِّ النَّاسِ صَلَاةً فِي تَمَامٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the lightest and the most complete.
Hadith 12774
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَأَسْوَدُ يَعْنِي شَاذَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِرَجُلٍ يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً : " ارْكَبْهَا " قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ ! قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا وَيْحَكَ " فِي الثَّالِثَةِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was driving a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to ride it. He replied, "This is a sacrificial animal." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him two or three times to ride it.
Hadith 12775
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ : أَسَمِعْتَ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " الْبُصَاقُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ خَطِيئَةٌ " ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " وَكَفَّارَتُهُ دَفْنُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is to bury it.
Hadith 12776
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تُوَاصِلُوا " قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ! قَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِثْلِي ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ أَوْ قَالَ : أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not observe continuous fasting for several days with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor). Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You do it this way?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: I am not like you in this matter; my Lord gives me food and drink.
Hadith 12777
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ جَمَعَ الْأَنْصَارَ فَقَالَ : " هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : لَا ، إِلَّا ابْنَ أُخْتٍ لَنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ " أَوْ قَالَ : " مِنَ الْقَوْمِ " قَالَ : فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ أَنَسٍ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Ansari companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, "Is there anyone among you besides the Ansar?" They replied, "No, except that we have a nephew." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A nephew of a people is counted among them."
Hadith 12778
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي قَتَادَةُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا طِيَرَةَ " قَالَ : " وَيُعْجِبُنِي الْفَأْلُ " فَقُلْتُ : مَا الْفَأْلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no reality in contagiousness of disease and evil omens, however, I like optimism, that is, a good and pure word. I asked, "What is meant by optimism?" He replied, "A good word."
