Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the dyeing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he replied that there were very few white hairs in the blessed beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to dye their hair with henna and katam. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) on the day of the conquest of Makkah brought his father Abu Quhafa (may Allah be pleased with him) on his back to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and after reaching the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), made him sit down. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), considering the honor of Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him), said that if you had left the elder at home, we would have gone to him ourselves. In short, Abu Quhafa (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam at that time, and the hair of his head and beard had become white like the herb called "thaghama." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Change his color, but avoid using black color.

One day, Zahir was standing by his goods, selling them, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came from behind and embraced him, placing his hands over his eyes. He began to say, "Who is it? Let me go." Then he realized and recognized the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he began to press his back closer to the chest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) started calling out, "Who will buy this slave?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You will find me to be a worthless coin." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "But you are not worthless in the sight of Allah; rather, you have great value."
