Musnad of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 11183
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ ابْنَةُ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَرَأَيْتَ هَذِهِ الْأَمْرَاضَ الَّتِي تُصِيبُنَا مَا لَنَا بِهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : " كَفَّارَاتٌ " ، قَالَ أَبِي : وَإِنْ قَلَّتْ ؟ قَالَ : " وَإِنْ شَوْكَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا " ، قَالَ : فَدَعَا أَبِي عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَنْ لَا يُفَارِقَهُ الْوَعْكُ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ فِي أَنْ لَا يَشْغَلَهُ عَنْ حَجٍّ ، وَلَا عُمْرَةٍ ، وَلَا جِهَادٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا صَلَاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ، فَمَا مَسَّهُ إِنْسَانٌ إِلَّا وَجَدَ حَرَّهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Tell us, what is there for us regarding the illnesses that afflict us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "These illnesses become an expiation for sins." Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Even if the illness is minor?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! Even if a thorn pricks or even less than that." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed for himself that fever should never leave him until death, but it should be such that it does not hinder him from Hajj and Umrah, striving in the way of Allah, and obligatory congregational prayers. Thus, after that, whoever touched him would feel his body hot, until he passed away.
Hadith 11184
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " اهْتَزَّ الْعَرْشُ لِمَوْتِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: At the death of Saad bin Muadh (may Allah be pleased with him), the Throne of Allah shook.
Hadith 11185
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عِيَاضُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ الْعَرَاجِينُ أَنْ يُمْسِكَهَا بِيَدِهِ ، فَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَفِي يَدِهِ واحِدٌ مِنْهَا ، فَرَأَى نُخَامَاتٍ فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَحَتَّهُنَّ بِهِ حَتَّى أَنْقَاهُنَّ ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ مُغْضَبًا ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَيَبْصُقَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّمَا يَسْتَقْبِلُ رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَالْمَلَكُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، فَلَا يَبْصُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلْيَبْصُقْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى أَوْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، فَإِنْ عَجِلَتْ بِهِ بَادِرَةٌ فَلْيَقُلْ هَكَذَا " وَرَدَّ بَعْضَهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ ، وَتَفَلَ يَحْيَى فِي ثَوْبِهِ ، وَدَلَكَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was very fond of a date palm twig and used to hold it in his hand. Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and saw spit or nasal discharge on the qiblah side of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cleaned it with that stick. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in a state of anger, turned towards the people and said: "Would any one of you like that a man should come and spit on his face from the front? When any one of you stands in prayer, he is before his Lord, and an angel is on his right side. Therefore, he should not spit in front of him or to his right, but should spit under his left foot or to his left side. And if it is very urgent, then he should do like this and rub it." The narrator demonstrated by spitting on his garment and rubbing it.
Hadith 11186
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : تَذَاكَرْنَا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : إِنَّهَا تَدُورُ مِنَ السَّنَةِ ، فَمَشَيْنَا إِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ ، سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، اعْتَكَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَشْرَ الْوَسَطَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، وَاعْتَكَفْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا صَبِيحَةَ عِشْرِينَ رَجَعَ ، وَرَجَعْنَا مَعَهُ ، وَأُرِيَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ، ثُمَّ أُنْسِيَهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ، ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا ، فَأُرَانِي أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ ، فَمَنْ اعْتَكَفَ مَعِي فَلْيَرْجِعْ إِلَى مُعْتَكَفِهِ ، ابْتَغُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي الْوَتْرِ مِنْهَا " وَهَاجَتْ عَلَيْنَا السَّمَاءُ آخِرَ تِلْكَ الْعَشِيَّةِ ، وَكَانَ نِصْفُ الْمَسْجِدِ عَرِيشًا مِنْ جَرِيدٍ ، فَوَكَفَ ، فَوَالَّذِي هُوَ أَكْرَمَهُ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ لَرَأَيْتُهُ صَلَّى بِنَا صَلَاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ لَيْلَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ ، وَإِنَّ جَبْهَتَهُ وَأَرْنَبَةَ أَنْفِهِ لَفِي الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed i'tikaf during the middle ten days of Ramadan: we also observed i'tikaf with him. When the morning of the twentieth day came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by us while we were moving our belongings. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever was in i'tikaf should remain in his i'tikaf. I had seen the Night of Qadr, but then its exact determination was made to be forgotten by me. However, in that night I saw myself prostrating in mud. Seek it in the odd nights of the last ten days. At that time, the roof of Masjid Nabawi was made of wood. That very night it rained, and by the One Who honored him and revealed His Book upon him, I saw that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in Maghrib prayer on the twenty-first night, there were marks of mud on his nose and forehead.
Hadith 11187
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْخَرَّاطِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ بِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ أَبَاكَ يَقُولُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى ؟ قَالَ : قَالَ أَبِي : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِ بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ ، فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : أَيُّ الْمَسْجِدَيْنِ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى ؟ ، فَأَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى ، فَضَرَبَ بِهِ الْأَرْضَ ، قَالَ : " هُوَ هَذَا مَسْجِدُ الْمَدِينَةِ " ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتَ أَبَاكَ هَكَذَا يَذْكُرُهُ .
Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Abdur Rahman bin Abi Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by me, and I asked him, "What have you heard from your father about this mosque whose foundation was laid on piety?" He said that his father had said: Once I went to one of the houses of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), which is the mosque whose foundation was laid on piety?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) took a handful of pebbles and struck them on the ground and said, "It is this mosque of the Prophet in Madinah Munawwarah." After hearing this hadith, Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I bear witness that I have also heard your father mention it in the same way."
Hadith 11188
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا أَصَابَ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنْ مَرَضٍ ، وَلَا وَصَبٍ ، وَلَا حَزَنٍ ، حَتَّى الْهَمَّ يُهِمُّهُ إِلَّا يُكَفِّرُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَنْهُ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whatever worry, hardship, grief, illness, or sorrow—even the thoughts "that trouble him"—reach a Muslim, Allah expiates his sins through them.
Hadith 11189
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا وَقَعَ الذُّبَابُ فِي طَعَامِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَامْقُلُوهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a fly falls into the food of any one of you, he should fully dip it in it.
Hadith 11190
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، وَشُعْبَةُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا كَانُوا ثَلَاثَةً فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ ، وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where there are three people, then at the time of prayer one should become the imam, and among them, the one who knows the most Qur'an has the greatest right to lead the prayer.
Hadith 11191
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى حُنَيْنٍ لِسَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ ، أَوْ ثَمَانِ عَشْرَةَ مَضَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، " فَصَامَ صَائِمُونَ ، وَأَفْطَرَ آخَرُونَ ، وَلَمْ يَعِبْ هَؤُلَاءِ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ ، وَلَا هَؤُلَاءِ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Battle of Hunain on the seventeenth or eighteenth of Ramadan. Some of us kept fast and some did not, but neither the one who fasted found fault with the one who did not, nor did the one who did not fast find fault with the one who fasted. (This means that whoever had the strength to fast would do so, and whoever did not have the strength would leave it and make it up later.)
Hadith 11192
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " تَكُونُ أُمَرَاءُ تَغْشَاهُمْ غَوَاشٍ ، أَوْ حَوَاشٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، يَظْلِمُونَ ، وَيَكْذِبُونَ ، فَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ ، وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ ، فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي ، وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَيُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ ، فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Soon there will come rulers who will be surrounded by such courtiers who will commit oppression and tell lies. Whoever goes to them and confirms their lies and assists them in their oppression, then he has no connection with me and I have no connection with him. And whoever does not go to them so that he does not have to confirm their lies or assist them in their oppression, then he is from me and I am from him.
Hadith 11193
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ِسَأَلَ ابْنَ صَائِدٍ عَنْ تُرْبَةِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَقَالَ : دَرْمَكَةٌ بَيْضَاءُ مِسْكٌ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Ibn Sayyad about the soil of Paradise. He replied that it is extremely white and pure musk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed this.
Hadith 11194
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلَ ابْنَ صَائِدٍ عَنْ تُرْبَةِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَقَالَ : دَرْمَكَةٌ بَيْضَاءُ مِسْكٌ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Ibn Sayyad about the soil of Paradise. He replied that it is extremely white and pure musk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) affirmed this.
Hadith 11195
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الْجَنَازَةَ فَقُومُوا لَهَا ، فَمَنْ اتَّبَعَهَا فَلَا يَقْعُدْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see a funeral, stand up, and whoever accompanies the funeral should not sit down before the funeral is placed on the ground.
Hadith 11196
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عَوْفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَفْتَرِقُ أُمَّتِي فِرْقَتَيْنِ ، فَيَتَمَرَّقُ بَيْنَهُمَا مَارِقَةٌ يَقْتُلُهَا أَوْلَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ بِالْحَقِّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Ummah will be divided into two groups, and from among them a group will emerge, which will be killed by the faction that is closer to the truth among those two groups."
Hadith 11197
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيَاضٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَدَعَاهُ ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْجُمُعَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَدَعَاهُ ، فَأَمَرَهُ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْجُمُعَةَ الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " تَصَدَّقُوا " فَفَعَلُوا ، فَأَعْطَاهُ ثَوْبَيْنِ مِمَّا تَصَدَّقُوا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " تَصَدَّقُوا " فَأَلْقَى أَحَدَ ثَوْبَيْهِ ، فَانْتَهَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَرِهَ مَا صَنَعَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا فَإِنَّهُ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فِي هَيْئَةٍ بَذَّةٍ ، فَدَعَوْتُهُ ، فَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ تُعْطُوا لَهُ ، فَتَصَدَّقُوا عَلَيْهِ ، وَتَكْسُوهُ ، فَلَمْ تَفْعَلُوا ، فَقُلْتُ : تَصَدَّقُوا ، فَتَصَدَّقُوا ، فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ ثَوْبَيْنِ مِمَّا تَصَدَّقُوا ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ : تَصَدَّقُوا ، فَأَلْقَى أَحَدَ ثَوْبَيْهِ ، خُذْ ثَوْبَكَ " وَانْتَهَرَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man entered the Prophet’s Mosque on Friday while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon from the pulpit. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and ordered him to pray two rak‘ahs. Then, two more men came one after the other, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them the same order. Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people to give charity, and people began to give charity. Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took two garments from those charities and gave them to the man who had come, and said: “O people! Give charity.” Upon this, the man put one garment back into the charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) scolded him for this action, and he disliked what the man had done. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Look at this person. He came to the mosque in a disheveled state. I called him, hoping that you would give him something and give charity to him and clothe him in clean clothes, but you did not do so. Then I explicitly asked you to give charity, and you gave charity, and I gave him two garments from it. Then, when I encouraged charity again, he put one of those garments back into it. Take your garment back.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) scolded him and said this.
Hadith 11198
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : حُبِسْنَا يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ عَنِ الصَّلَوَاتِ حَتَّى كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ هَوِيًّا ، وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِي الْقِتَالِ مَا نَزَلَ ، فَلَمَّا كُفِينَا الْقِتَالَ ، وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ وَكَفَى اللَّهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًا سورة الأحزاب آية 25 " أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا ، فَأَقَامَ الظُّهْرَ ، فَصَلَّاهَا كَمَا يُصَلِّيهَا فِي وَقْتِهَا ، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ الْعَصْرَ ، فَصَلَّاهَا كَمَا يُصَلِّيهَا فِي وَقْتِهَا ، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ الْمَغْرِبَ ، فَصَلَّاهَا كَمَا يُصَلِّيهَا فِي وَقْتِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Khandaq, we did not get the opportunity to perform the prayer, to the extent that even after Maghrib some time had passed. Until that time, the method of Salat al-Khawf (prayer of fear) had not been revealed, which was revealed later. When our sufficiency in the matter of fighting was achieved—meaning Allah had said that Allah would suffice the Muslims in fighting, and Allah is Powerful and Mighty—then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave the Iqamah for Zuhr. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer as he would in normal times. Then he led the Asr prayer in the same way as he would at its time, and likewise, he led the Maghrib prayer as he would at its own time.
Hadith 11199
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ ، ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ ، قَالَ : " وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ " فَرِجَالا أَوْ رُكْبَانًا سورة البقرة آية 239 .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 11200
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : يُعْرَضُ النَّاسُ عَلَى جِسْرِ جَهَنَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حَسَكٌ وَكَلَالِيبُ وَخَطَاطِيفُ تَخْطَفُ النَّاسَ ، قَالَ : فَيَمُرُّ النَّاسُ مِثْلَ الْبَرْقِ ، وَآخَرُونَ مِثْلَ الرِّيحِ ، وَآخَرُونَ مِثْلَ الْفَرَسِ الْمُجِدِّ ، وَآخَرُونَ يَسْعَوْنَ سَعْيًا ، وَآخَرُونَ يَمْشُونَ مَشْيًا ، وَآخَرُونَ يَحْبُونَ حَبْوًا ، وَآخَرُونَ يَزْحَفُونَ زَحْفًا ، فَأَمَّا أَهْلُ النَّارِ فَلَا يَمُوتُونَ وَلَا يَحْيَوْنَ ، وَأَمَّا نَاسٌ فَيُؤْخَذُونَ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ فَيُحْرَقُونَ ، فَيَكُونُونَ فَحْمًا ، ثُمَّ يَأْذَنُ اللَّهُ فِي الشَّفَاعَةِ ، فَيُوجَدُونَ ضِبَارَاتٍ ضِبَارَاتٍ ، فَيُقْذَفُونَ عَلَى نَهَرٍ ، فَيَنْبُتُونَ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الْحِبَّةُ فِي حَمِيلِ السَّيْلِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ رَأَيْتُمْ الصَّبْغَاءَ ؟ " ، فَقَالَ : " وَعَلَى النَّارِ ثَلَاثُ شَجَرَاتٍ ، فَتَخْرُجُ أَوْ يَخْرُجُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّارِ ، فَيَكُونُ عَلَى شَفَتِهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، اصْرِفْ وَجْهِي عَنْهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ : وَعَهْدِكَ وَذِمَّتِكَ لَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَرَى شَجَرَةً ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، أَدْنِنِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، أَسْتَظِلُّ بِظِلِّهَا وَآكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرَتِهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ : وَعَهْدِكَ وَذِمَّتِكَ لَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَرَى شَجَرَةً أُخْرَى أَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، حَوِّلْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، فَأَسْتَظِلَّ بِظِلِّهَا وَآكُلَ مِنْ ثَمَرَتِهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : وَعَهْدِكَ وَذِمَّتِكَ لَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَرَى الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ ، حَوِّلْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، أَسْتَظِلُّ بِظِلِّهَا وَآكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرَتِهَا ، قَالَ : وَعَهْدِكَ وَذِمَّتِكَ لَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَيْرَهَا ، قَالَ : فَيَرَى سَوَادَ النَّاسِ وَيَسْمَعُ أَصْوَاتَهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ " قَالَ : فَقَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ وَرَجُلٌ آخَرُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اخْتَلَفَا ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا : " فَيَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ ، فَيُعْطَى الدُّنْيَا وَمِثْلَهَا مَعَهَا " ، وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ : " يُدْخَلُ الْجَنَّةَ فَيُعْطَى الدُّنْيَا وَعَشَرَةَ أَمْثَالِهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that people will be brought to the bridge over Hell, where there will be hooks, thorns, and snatching things. Some people will pass over it like lightning, some like the wind, some like fast-running horses, some running, some walking, some crawling, and some passing on their buttocks. As for the rest, the people of Hell will neither be alive nor dead in it. However, some people will be seized because of their sins and will be burnt to coal. Then Allah Almighty will permit intercession, and they will be taken out of Hell in groups. Then they will be dipped into a river, and they will sprout forth just as a seed sprouts in mud. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the example of "Sabgha" for this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said that there will be three trees on the bridge of Sirat. A man will come out of Hell and reach their edge and will say, "O Lord! Turn my face away from Hell." Allah will take a covenant from him that after this he will not ask for anything more. Meanwhile, he will see a tree and say, "O Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may benefit from its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will again take the same promise from him. Suddenly, he will see another tree and say, "O Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may benefit from its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will again take the same promise from him. Suddenly, he will see an even more beautiful tree and say, "O Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may benefit from its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will again take the same promise from him. Then he will see the shade of the people and hear their voices, so he will say, "O Lord! Admit me into Paradise." There is a difference of opinion between Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) and another companion (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this: according to one of them, he will be admitted into Paradise and given the world and one time more than it, and according to the other, he will be given the world and ten times more than it.
Hadith 11201
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " يَمُرُّ النَّاسُ عَلَى جِسْرِ جَهَنَّمَ " ، فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ : " بِجَنْبَتَيْهِ مَلَائِكَةٌ يَقُولُونَ اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ سَلِّمْ " ، وَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا رَأَيْتُمْ الصَّبْغَاءَ شَجَرَةٌ تَنْبُتُ فِي الْغُثَاءِ ؟ " ، وَقَالَ : " وَأَمَّا أَهْلُ النَّارِ الَّذِينَ هُمْ أَهْلُهَا " فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 11202
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ وَأَمْلَاهُ عَلَيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا نَضْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّفَاعَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ النَّاسَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَى جِسْرِ جَهَنَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حَسَكٌ ، وَكَلَالِيبُ ، تَخْطَفُ النَّاسَ ، وَبِجَنْبَتَيْهِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ، يَقُولُونَ اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ ، سَلِّمْ " ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Ghiyath narrated to us and dictated it to me, he said: I heard Abu Nadrah narrating from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned intercession and said: "Indeed, the people will be presented on the bridge over Hell, and upon it are thorns and hooks that snatch the people, and on its sides are the angels, saying: O Allah, grant safety, grant safety." Then he mentioned the rest of the hadith.
Hadith 11203
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ مَرْوَانَ ، فَدَخَلَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى عَنْ النَّفْخِ فِي الشَّرَابِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : إِنِّي لَا أُرْوَى مِنْ نَفَسٍ وَاحِدٍ ، قَالَ : " أَبِنْهُ عَنْكَ ، ثُمَّ تَنَفَّسْ " ، قَالَ : أَرَى فِيهِ الْقَذَاةَ ، قَالَ : " فَأَهْرِقْهَا " .
Abu al-Muthanna, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I was with Marwan when Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, also came. Marwan asked him, "Have you heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbidding breathing into drinks?" He replied, "Yes!" A man said, "I cannot quench my thirst in one breath, what should I do?" He replied, "Separate the vessel from your mouth and then breathe." He said, "If I see a straw or something in it, should I not blow into it even then?" He replied, "Pour it out."
Hadith 11204
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْوَدَّاكِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْعَزْلِ ، قَالَ : " اصْنَعُوا مَا بَدَا لَكُمْ ، فَإِنْ قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ شَيْئًا كَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding coitus interruptus: Do as you wish, whatever Allah has decreed in destiny will surely happen.
Hadith 11205
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْوَدَّاكِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا حُرِّمَتْ الْخَمْرُ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا خَمْرًا لِيَتِيمٍ لَنَا ، " فَأَمَرَنَا فَأَهْرَقْنَاهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that when alcohol was prohibited, we said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "We have some alcohol belonging to an orphan child." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to pour it out, so we poured it out.
Hadith 11206
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْوَدَّاكِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى لَيَرَوْنَ مَنْ فَوْقَهُمْ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ الْكَوْكَبَ الدُّرِّيَّ فِي أُفُقِ السَّمَاءِ ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those with high ranks in Paradise will be seen in such a way as you see the shining stars on the horizon of the sky, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) will also be among them, and both of them will be in bliss and comfort there.
Hadith 11207
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ذَكْوَانَ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى مَنْزِلَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَخَرَجَ ، وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ ، قَالَ لَعَلَّنَا أَعْجَلْنَاكَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أُعْجِلْتَ أَوْ أُقْحِطْتَ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ غُسْلٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to an Ansari companion. When he came, water droplets were dripping from his head. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Perhaps we compelled you to hasten in finishing?" He replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When there is haste in such a situation, then only perform ablution (wudu), do not perform the full bath (ghusl). (Rather, perform the bath later at ease.)"
Hadith 11208
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، قَالَ : " لَا تُوقِدُوا نَارًا بِلَيْلٍ " ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَاكَ ، قَالَ : " أَوْقِدُوا وَاصْطَنِعُوا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُدْرِكُ قَوْمٌ بَعْدَكُمْ صَاعَكُمْ وَلَا مُدَّكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) on the day of the Battle of Hudaybiyyah: "Do not light a fire at night." After some time, he said: "Now you may light a fire and cook food, for no nation after you will be able to reach your Sa’ and Mudd."

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنِي التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : لَقِيَنِي ابْنُ صَائِدٍ ، فَقَالَ : عُدَّ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ ، أَوْ أَحْسِبُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ ، وَأَنْتُمْ يَا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ ! أَلَيْسَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : أَوْ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هُوَ يَهُودِي " وَأَنَا مُسْلِمٌ ، " وَإِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ " وَأَنَا صَحِيحٌ ، " وَلَا يَأْتِي مَكَّةَ وَلَا الْمَدِينَةَ " ، وَقَدْ حَجَجْتُ وَأَنَا مَعَكَ الْآنَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، " وَلَا يُولَدُ لَهُ وَقَدْ وُلِدَ لِي " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : مَعَ ذَاكَ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَيْنَ وُلِدَ ، وَمَتَى يَخْرُجُ ، وَأَيْنَ هُوَ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَلَبَّسَ عَلَيَّ .
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once I met Ibn Sayyad and he said, "People say various things about me, and O companions of Muhammad! Did you not hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Dajjal will be a Jew, whereas I am a Muslim? He will be one-eyed and I am healthy. He will not be able to enter Makkah and Madinah, whereas I have just returned from Hajj and now I am going to Madinah with you. He will have no children, whereas I have children. Then in the end he said, 'Despite all this, I know where he will be born, when he will emerge, and where he is now.' Hearing this, his matter again became doubtful to me."
Hadith 11210
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَصُومُ عَبْدٌ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا بَاعَدَ اللَّهُ بِذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ النَّارَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts for one day in the way of Allah, Allah, due to the blessing of that day, will distance him from Hell by a distance of seventy years.
Hadith 11211
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ الثَّقَلَيْنِ ، أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ ، كِتَابُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ، وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي ، أَلَا إِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am leaving among you two important things, one of which is connected to the other. One is the Book of Allah, which is a rope hanging from the sky to the earth, and the other is my Ahl al-Bayt. These two things will not be separated from each other until they come to me at the Pond of Kawthar.
Hadith 11212
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي الْجُهَنِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ زَيْدًا الْعَمِّيَّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَكُونُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْمَهْدِيُّ ، فَإِنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ أَوْ قَصُرَ عُمْرُهُ عَاشَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ ، أَوْ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ ، أَوْ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ ، يَمْلَأُ الْأَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَعَدْلًا ، وَتُخْرِجُ الْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا ، وَتُمْطِرُ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A Mahdi will come in my Ummah who will remain for seven, eight, or nine years. He will fill the earth with justice and fairness. In his time, Allah Almighty will send abundant rain from the sky, and the earth will produce all its crops."
Hadith 11213
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطِيَّةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ بِبَابِ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى لَيَرَاهُمْ مَنْ تَحْتَهُمْ ، كَمَا تَرَوْنَ النَّجْمَ الطَّالِعَ فِي الْأُفُقِ مِنْ آفَاقِ السَّمَاءِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ َوعُمَرُ مِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those with high ranks in Paradise will be seen in such a way as you see the shining stars on the horizon of the sky, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) are among them, and both of them will be in bliss and comfort there.
Hadith 11214
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ نَهَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيُسْأَلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِيمَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ أَنْ يُقَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُنْكِرَ الْمُنْكَرَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : " فَمَنْ لَقَّنَهُ اللَّهُ حُجَّتَهُ ، قَالَ رَبِّ رَجَوْتُكَ ، وَخِفْتُ النَّاسَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, you will be questioned about everything, even to the extent that you will be asked: When you saw a sinful act being committed, why did you not stop it? Then, the one to whom Allah grants understanding will say: O Lord! I hoped for Your forgiveness, but I feared the people.
Hadith 11215
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ صَيْفِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : وَجَدَ رَجُلٌ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ حَيَّةً ، فَأَخَذَ رُمْحَهُ فَشَكَّهَا فِيهِ ، فَلَمْ تَمُتْ الْحَيَّةُ حَتَّى مَاتَ الرَّجُلُ ، فَأُخْبِرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ مَعَكُمْ عَوَامِرَ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا فَحَرِّجُوا عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man saw a snake in his house. He picked up his spear and struck the snake, injuring it, but did not kill it. Rather, the snake attacked and killed the man. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this incident, he said: "Some of those who live with you are also among those who inhabit (the earth). When you see them, first advise them to leave three times. If they still appear after that, then kill them."
Hadith 11216
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَيَّاشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَدْنَى أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْزِلَةً ، رَجُلٌ صَرَفَ اللَّهُ وَجْهَهُ عَنِ النَّارِ قِبَلَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَمَثَّلَ لَهُ شَجَرَةً ذَاتَ ظِلٍّ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، قَدِّمْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَأَكُونَ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ : هَلْ عَسَيْتَ إِنْ فَعَلْتُ أَنْ تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا وَعِزَّتِكَ ، فَقَدَّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا ، وَمَثَّلَ لَهُ شَجَرَةً ذَاتَ ظِلٍّ وَثَمَرٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، قَدِّمْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ أَكُونُ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، وَآكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ لَهُ : هَلْ عَسَيْتَ إِنْ أَعْطَيْتُكَ ذَلِكَ أَنْ تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهُ ؟ ، فَيَقُولُ : لَا وَعِزَّتِكَ ، فَيُقَدِّمُهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا ، فَتُمَثَّلُ لَهُ شَجَرَةٌ أُخْرَى ذَاتُ ظِلٍّ وَثَمَرٍ وَمَاءٍ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، قَدِّمْنِي إِلَى هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ أَكُونُ فِي ظِلِّهَا ، وَآكُلُ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا وَأَشْرَبُ مِنْ مَائِهَا ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ : هَلْ عَسَيْتَ إِنْ فَعَلْتُ أَنْ تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهُ ؟ ، فَيَقُولُ : لَا وَعِزَّتِكَ ، لَا أَسْأَلُكَ غَيْرَهُ ، فَيُقَدِّمُهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا ، فَيَبْرُزُ لَهُ بَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، قَدِّمْنِي إِلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَأَكُونَ تَحْتَ نِجَافِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَأَنْظُرَ إِلَى أَهْلِهَا ، فَيُقَدِّمُهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا ، فَيَرَى أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا فِيهَا ، فَيَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، أَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ : فَيُدْخِلُهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ : فَإِذَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ : هَذَا لِي ، قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ : تَمَنَّ فَيَتَمَنَّى وَيُذَكِّرُهُ اللَّهُ سَلْ مِنْ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، حَتَّى إِذَا انْقَطَعَتْ بِهِ الْأَمَانِيُّ ، قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : هُوَ لَكَ وَعَشَرَةُ أَمْثَالِهِ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ زَوْجَتَاهُ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ ، فَيَقُولَانِ لَهُ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَاكَ لَنَا وَأَحْيَانَا لَكَ ، قال : فَيَقُولُ : مَا أُعْطِيَ أَحَدٌ مِثْلَ مَا أُعْطِيتُ ، قَالَ : وَأَدْنَى أَهْلِ النَّارِ عَذَابًا يُنْعَلُ مَنْ نَارٍ بِنَعْلَيْنِ يَغْلِي دِمَاغُهُ مِنْ حَرَارَةِ نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The person with the lowest rank in Paradise will be the one whose face Allah will turn from Hell towards Paradise, and a shady tree will be presented before him. He will say, "O Lord! Bring me near to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will take a promise from him for that. Suddenly, he will see another tree and say, "O Lord! Bring me near to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will again take the same promise from him. Suddenly, he will see an even more beautiful tree and say, "O Lord! Bring me near to this tree so that I may enjoy its shade and eat its fruit." Allah will again take the same promise from him. Then he will see the shade of the people and hear their voices, so he will say, "O Lord! Admit me into Paradise." After this, there is a difference of opinion between Hazrat Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) and another companion (may Allah be pleased with him): according to one of them, after being admitted into Paradise, he will be given the world and one time as much more, and according to the other, he will be given the world and ten times as much more. Then, when he enters Paradise, two wives from among the wide-eyed maidens (Hoor al-'Ayn) will come to him and say, "Praise be to Allah who gave you life for us and gave us life for you." Seeing this, he will say, "No one has been given such blessings as I have been given." And he (the Prophet) said: The lightest punishment in Hell will be for the person who will be made to wear two shoes of fire, due to the heat of which his brain will boil like a cauldron.
Hadith 11217
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْكَلْبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيُحَجَّنَّ الْبَيْتُ وَلَيُعْتَمَرَنَّ بَعْدَ خُرُوجِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even after the emergence of Gog and Magog, Hajj and Umrah of the House of Allah will continue.
Hadith 11218
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ جَاءَ إِلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَمَشَى مَعَهَا مِنْ أَهْلِهَا حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ انْتَظَرَ حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ أَوْ يُفْرَغَ مِنْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer and accompanies (the funeral) up to the grave will receive the reward of two qirats, and whoever only offers the funeral prayer but does not go up to the grave will receive the reward of one qirat, and one qirat is equal to (the mountain of) Uhud.
Hadith 11219
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيُحَجَّنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتُ وَلَيُعْتَمَرَنَّ بَعْدَ خُرُوجِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even after the emergence of Gog and Magog, Hajj and Umrah of the House of Allah will continue.
Hadith 11220
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " فَأَقُولُ : أَصْحَابِي أَصْحَابِي ، فَقِيلَ إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ " ، قَالَ : " فَأَقُولُ : بُعْدًا بُعْدًا " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " سُحْقًا سُحْقًا لِمَنْ بَدَّلَ بَعْدِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Some people will be prevented from drinking at the Pond of Kawthar.) I will say, "These are my companions." I will be told, "You do not know what innovations they introduced after you." I will say, "Away with those who changed the religion after me."
Hadith 11221
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِعَمَّارٍ : " تَقْتُلُكَ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him): "A rebellious group will kill you."
Hadith 11222
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مَنَّانٌ ، وَلَا عَاقٌّ ، وَلَا مُدْمِنُ خَمْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No one who reminds others of his favors, one who is disobedient to his parents, and a habitual wine-drinker will enter Paradise.
