Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon continuously from after the Asr prayer until sunset. Whoever remembered it, remembered it, and whoever forgot it, forgot it. In this sermon, after praising and glorifying Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To proceed! The world is green, lush, and sweet. Allah will grant you succession in it to see what deeds you perform. Beware! Fear the world and fear women. And beware! The children of Adam are created in different ranks: some are born as believers, live as believers, and die as believers; some are born as disbelievers, live as disbelievers, and die as disbelievers; some are born as believers, live as believers, and die as disbelievers; and some are born as disbelievers, live as disbelievers, and die as believers. Beware! Anger is a spark that smolders in the belly of the son of Adam. You can see the redness of his eyes and the swelling of his veins when he is angry. When any of you becomes angry, he should lie down on the ground. Beware! The best man is the one who gets angry slowly and is quickly pleased, and the worst man is the one who gets angry quickly and is slow to be pleased. And when a man is slow to anger and slow to be pleased, or quick to be pleased, then this is equal for him. Beware! The best trader is the one who pays debts in a good manner and demands in a good manner, and the worst trader is the one who pays in a bad manner and demands in a bad manner. And if a man pays in a good manner and demands in a bad manner, or pays in a bad manner and demands in a good manner, then this is equal for him. On the Day of Resurrection, every deceiver will have a flag according to the extent of his deception. Beware! The greatest deception will be that of the person who is the general ruler of the whole country. Beware! If a person is prevented from speaking the word of truth due to the awe and dominance of people, even though he knows it well, beware! The most virtuous jihad is to speak the word of truth before a tyrant ruler. Then, when the time of sunset approached, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! The proportion of the remaining life of the world to the life that has already passed is like the proportion of what remains of this day to what has already passed of it."

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man asked in the court of the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), there is an abundance of lizards in our area. What command do you give us regarding this?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "It has been mentioned before me that a group among the Children of Israel was transformed (into something else), (perhaps it was this very creature),” and the Prophet (peace be upon him) neither commanded to eat it nor forbade it.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) was ordered by Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to come to him. He went to him and sought permission to enter three times, but he was not granted permission, so he returned. Later, when he met Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, "What is the matter, why did you go back?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever seeks permission three times and is not granted permission should return." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Present a witness for this, otherwise I will punish you." So he went to a gathering of his people and adjured them by Allah, so I said, "I will go with you." Thus, I went with him and testified to this, and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) let him go.

In that gathering, Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present. He stood up and said, "This man has fulfilled his responsibility. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart—and that is the weakest level of faith.'"

The people replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we saw you taking off your shoes, so we also took them off." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Gabriel came to me and informed me that there was some impurity on my shoes. Therefore, when any one of you comes to the mosque, he should turn and look at his shoes. If he sees any impurity on them, he should rub them on the ground, and then pray in them."

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I narrate to you only what I have heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); this too my ears have heard and my heart has preserved, that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Among the Children of Israel there was a man who had killed ninety-nine people. After that, (with the intention of repenting) he set out to find out who was the greatest scholar on the face of the earth. People told him that a certain person was the greatest scholar. He went to that person and asked, "I have killed ninety-nine people, can my repentance be accepted?" The scholar said, "No." So he killed the scholar as well, thus completing the number to one hundred. Then he began to ask people who was now the greatest scholar. People gave him the address of a man; he went to him and stated his case. The scholar said, "Yes, what is there to prevent it? Leave this evil land and go to such-and-such village (there your repentance will be accepted) and worship your Lord there." This man set out towards that village, but on the way, the time of his death came. Compelled, he kept dragging himself on his chest towards that village. Now the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment disputed with each other regarding his salvation and punishment. Satan came and said, "I have more right to him because he never disobeyed me even for a moment." And the angels of mercy said, "He set out in repentance." (Allah Almighty sent an angel and) he decided that whichever of the two villages this man was closer to, count him among its people. The narrator says that before his death, seeing his end near, he had come closer to the good village, so the angels counted him among them.

I have come out fearing Your displeasure and seeking Your pleasure. I ask You to save me from the Hellfire and forgive my sins, for none forgives sins except You," then Allah appoints seventy thousand angels for him who seek forgiveness for him, and Allah turns His special attention towards him until he finishes his prayer.

Hazrat Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once ascended the pulpit and said to us: "What I fear most for you is that Allah will bring forth for you the vegetation of the earth and the adornments of the world." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Can good also bring about evil?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. We understood that revelation was being sent down upon him, so we said to that man, "What is the matter? You are speaking to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he is not replying to you?" Then, when that state passed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to wipe his sweat and said, "Where is the questioner?" He replied, "I am present here, and my intention was only good." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Good always brings about good. However, this world is lush and sweet, and the wild grass that grows in the spring can cause an animal to bloat or die from indigestion. But the animal that grazes on ordinary grass continues to eat, and when its belly is full, it comes into the sun, passes dung and urine, and then returns to eat again. Thus, a Muslim is very good in regard to the rights of the poor, the orphan, and the traveler. But the one who acquires it unjustly is like the one who keeps eating but is never satisfied, and it will testify against him on the Day of Resurrection."

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when Surah Nasr was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it completely to the noble companions and said that all people are on one side and I and my companions are on the other side of the scale. And he said that after the conquest of Makkah, migration is no longer obligatory, but the reward of jihad and intention remains. Upon hearing this hadith, Marwan denied it. At that time, Hazrat Rafi bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) were also present, sitting with Marwan on his throne. Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if these two wish, they can narrate this hadith to you, but one of them fears that you will take away the leadership of his people from him, and the other fears that you will withhold charity from him. Upon this, both of them remained silent, and Marwan picked up a whip to beat Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him). Seeing this, both of them said, "He is speaking the truth." Benefit: The writer does not have complete satisfaction regarding the authenticity of this narration.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the delegation of Banu Abdul Qais came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), they said, "We belong to the tribe of Rabi’ah. Between us and you is the tribe of the disbelievers of Mudar, and we can only come to you during the sacred months. So tell us something by acting upon which we may enter Paradise and also inform those who are behind us." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I command you to do four things and forbid you from four things: Worship Allah, do not associate anything with Him, establish prayer, give zakat, fast in Ramadan, and send one-fifth of the spoils of war to the treasury. And I forbid you from (using) vessels called Duba’, Hantam, Naqir, and Muzaffat." The people asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about the meaning of "Naqir." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "It is the hollowed-out stump of a date-palm, into which pieces, dates, or water are put, and when it ferments, it is drunk. Then one of you may strike his cousin with a sword." Coincidentally, there was a man among the people at that time who had been wounded for this very reason, and I began to hide him out of shame. Then those people asked, "What do you command us regarding drinks?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Drink from those water skins whose mouths are tied." They said, "There are many rats in our area, and leather water skins do not last." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said two or three times, "Even if the rats gnaw at them." And he said to the leader of the delegation, "There are two qualities in you that Allah loves very much: forbearance and dignity."
