Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale and purchase of spoils of war before their distribution and the sale and purchase of fruits before they are safe from every calamity. He also forbade performing prayer before tightening the waist belt.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) continued to advise me to treat the neighbor well with such persistence that I began to think he would soon make him an heir.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we had nothing to eat except two black things: dates and water.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said, "Fasting is exclusively for Me and I Myself will give its reward. The breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk."

Uthman bin Shamas says that once Marwan passed by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said, "Keep some of your hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) safe." After a little while, he came back. We thought in our hearts that now he will speak disrespectfully about Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) (because there was some displeasure between them). Marwan said, "Which supplication did you hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recite in the funeral prayer?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: O Allah, You alone created him, You alone provided for him, You alone guided him towards Islam, and You alone took his soul. You know all his hidden and apparent matters. We have come to You as intercessors for him, so forgive him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the honorable wife of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), was previously named Barrah. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed her name to "Zainab."

Abu Rafi’ says that once I saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing a prostration of recitation in Surah Inshiqaq. I asked him about it, and he replied, “My beloved (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prostration at this verse, so I will continue to perform a prostration at this verse until I meet the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved friend (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things, which I will not leave until my death: (1) to perform Witr prayer before sleeping, (2) to offer the Duha (forenoon) prayer, (3) to fast three days in every month.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Fajr prayer before sunrise has caught that prayer, and whoever catches one rak'ah of the Asr prayer before sunset has caught that prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the People of the Book: When you meet them on the road, do not initiate the greeting of peace (salaam) with them, and force them to the narrowest part of the road.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), tell us of a deed that is equal to jihad." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You do not have the strength for it" (he said this two or three times). The people said, "Please tell us, perhaps we can do it." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The example of one who strives in the path of Allah is like that of a person who fasts during the day, stands in prayer at night, and humbles himself before the verses of Allah, and does not fall short in his fasting or prayer in any way, until that mujahid returns to his family."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Imam says "ghayril maghdubi 'alayhim walad-dallin," the follower should say Ameen upon it, because if a person's Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Imam says "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" and the follower says "Allahumma Rabbana wa lakal hamd," and if this phrase of his coincides with the "Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd" of those in the heavens, then all his past sins will be forgiven.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When any one of you says Ameen, the angels also say Ameen at that time. So, whose Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Asr prayer and after praying two rak'ahs, he said salam. Upon this, Dhul-Yadain stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), did you forget or were the rak'ahs of the prayer reduced?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have neither forgotten nor have the rak'ahs of the prayer been reduced." He said, "Something has happened." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Is it as Dhul-Yadain is saying?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) affirmed it. Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the two rak'ahs that had been left out. And after saying salam, while sitting, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajda sahw).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever takes a bath on Friday and sets out for the Friday prayer, he receives the reward like one who has sacrificed a camel. The one who comes in the second hour is like one who has sacrificed a cow. The one who comes in the third hour is like one who has sacrificed a ram. The one who comes in the fourth hour is like one who has sacrificed a chicken. The one who comes in the fifth hour is like one who has given an egg in charity. Then when the Imam comes out, the angels turn to listen to the remembrance.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not sell by throwing pebbles, do not deceive each other in buying and selling, do not sell by touching. And whoever (being deceived) buys such a she-camel or goat whose udders have been tied, then either he should keep the animal with himself (and resolve the matter), or he should return the animal to its owner and along with it give one sa’ of dates.

It is narrated marfu'an from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that if I had not feared hardship for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the miswak with every ablution.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a dog licks the utensil of any one of you, he should wash that utensil seven times.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not come running for prayer, rather come with calmness and tranquility. Whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and complete what you have missed. For when any one of you intends to pray, he is considered to be in prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the call to prayer (adhan) is given, Satan runs away while passing wind loudly so that he does not hear the adhan. When the adhan is finished, he comes back. Then when the iqamah is started, he runs away again, and when the iqamah is completed, he comes back again and puts whispers into the heart of a person and says, "Remember such and such thing, remember such and such thing," and he reminds him of things which he did not remember before, to the extent that a person does not even remember how many rak‘ahs he has prayed.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer in which Surah Al-Fatiha is not recited is incomplete, incomplete, incomplete. And this statement was also made by my beloved (peace be upon him) before me. Then he said: O Farsi! Recite Surah Al-Fatiha, because I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah Almighty has said: I have divided the prayer between Myself and My servant, and My servant will have what he asks for. So when the servant says, "All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds," Allah Almighty says: My servant has praised Me. When the servant says, "The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful," Allah Almighty says: My servant has glorified Me or extolled Me. When the servant says, "Master of the Day of Judgment," Allah Almighty says: My servant has entrusted himself to Me. When the servant says, "You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help," Allah Almighty says: This is between Me and My servant, and My servant will have what he asks for. Then when the servant recites from "Guide us to the straight path" to the end, Allah Almighty says: This is for My servant, and what you have asked of Me, you will surely receive.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Name yourselves after me, but do not take my kunya (patronymic name) as your kunya." And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked a horse whose three legs were white and the fourth leg was of the same color as the rest of the body.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The part of the lower garment which hangs below the ankles will be in the Hellfire."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wherever the voice of the muezzin reaches, forgiveness is granted due to his blessing, because every wet and dry thing bears witness in his favor. And for the one who participates in the congregational prayer, twenty-five good deeds are written, and the interval between two prayers becomes an expiation.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is absolutely no "aghrar" in prayer and salam. Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Abu Amr al-Shaibani (may Allah have mercy on him) about the meaning of this hadith, so he said that the word is not "aghrar" but "gharar," and according to Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), the meaning of "gharar" is that a person should not exit from the prayer until he has complete certainty that the prayer has been fully completed, and as long as he thinks that some part of the prayer remains, he should not leave the prayer.

Abdur-Rahman narrated to us from Sufyan from Asim ibn Ubaydullah from Ubayd, the freed slave of Abu Rahm, who said: I went out with Abu Huraira from the mosque, and he saw a woman who was sprinkling perfume on her hem, a whiff of fragrance. He said, "O servant of the Compeller, have you come from the mosque?" She said, "Yes." He said, "And for it you have perfumed yourself?" She said, "Yes." He said, "Then go back, for I heard Abu al-Qasim say: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has perfumed herself for the mosque or for this mosque until she performs a bath like the bath of janabah."

It is narrated from the freed slave of Abu Ruhm that once Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) encountered a woman who had applied perfume. He asked her, "O servant of the Almighty, where are you intending to go?" She replied, "To the mosque." He asked, "Is it for this reason that you have applied perfume?" She said, "Yes." He said, "The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Any woman who leaves her house having applied perfume with the intention of going to the mosque, Allah does not accept her prayer until she returns home and washes it off in the manner of washing from impurity.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he performed the prostration of recitation (sajda tilawat) with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the verse of prostration in Surah Inshiqaq and Surah Alaq.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the truthful and trusted, the owner of the chamber, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Mercy is drawn only towards the one who is himself wretched."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for an accepted Hajj is nothing except Paradise, and two Umrahs become an expiation for the sins committed between them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The imam is responsible and the muezzin is trustworthy. O Allah, guide the imams and forgive the muezzins.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you is fasting on any day, he should neither speak indecently nor act ignorantly. If someone behaves ignorantly towards him, he should say, "I am fasting."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not thank people does not thank Allah either.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the truthful and trusted, the owner of the chamber, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Mercy is drawn only towards the one who is himself wretched."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The smell from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is observing a fast, he should neither indulge in indecent talk nor act ignorantly. If someone tries to fight or abuse him, he should simply say: I am fasting.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for an accepted Hajj is nothing except Paradise, and two Umrahs become an expiation for the sins committed between them.
