Hadith 9590
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَهُوَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم : " إِذَا أَوَى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ " ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 9591
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي ، لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ ، وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ ، فَإِذَا مَضَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ ، نَزَلَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا , فَقَالَ : هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ فَأُعْطِيَهُ ؟ ، هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ ؟ ، هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ فَأَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِ ؟ ، هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ فَأُجِيبَهُ ؟ ، " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I did not fear hardship for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the miswak at every prayer time and to delay the Isha prayer until one third or half of the night had passed. Because after one third or half of the night has passed, Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven and says: Is there anyone who asks so that I may give to him? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness for sins so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone repenting so that I may accept his repentance? Is there anyone calling so that I may answer his call?
Hadith 9592
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ " ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ ، وَقَالَ : " فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْزِلُ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا " ، وَقَالَ فِيهِ : " حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ " .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain, however, at the end of it, it is also mentioned that this continues until the break of dawn.
Hadith 9593
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم : " النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ ، خِيَارُهُمْ أَتْبَاعٌ لِخِيَارِهِمْ ، وَشِرَارُهُمْ أَتْبَاعٌ لِشِرَارِهِمْ " .
It is narrated marfu'an from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the matter of this religion, all people are followers of the Quraysh; the good are followers of the good, and the bad are followers of the bad.
Hadith 9594
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ : الْإِمَامُ الْكَذَّابُ ، وَالشَّيْخُ الزَّانِي ، وَالْعَامِلُ الْمَزْهُوُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three types of people upon whom Allah will not look with mercy on the Day of Resurrection: a lying ruler, an old adulterer, and a boastful poor person.
Hadith 9595
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِيَنَّ جَارَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ " ، وَقَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً : " أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
Hadith 9596
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَبُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ ، وَلَا يَغْتَسِلْ فِيهِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should urinate in standing water, nor perform ghusl for janabah in it.
Hadith 9597
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ كَتَبَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ ، إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي تَغْلِبُ غَضَبِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah decided to create the creation, He wrote in a book which is with Him above the Throne: "My mercy prevails over My wrath."
Hadith 9598
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ اسْمِي وَكُنْيَتِي ، فَإِنِّي أَنَا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ، اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُعْطِي ، وَأَنَا أَقْسِمُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not combine my name and my kunyah within yourselves (either keep my name or only my kunyah), because my kunyah is Abu al-Qasim. Allah grants and I distribute.
Hadith 9599
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ ، وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ ، اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey, he would recite this supplication: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from distress upon return, and from witnessing any evil in my family and wealth. O Allah, You are my companion in travel and my successor among my family. O Allah, fold the earth for us and make the journey easy for us.
Hadith 9600
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمْ أَهْلُ الْبَادِيَةِ عَلَى اسْمِ صَلَاتِكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Let not the villagers prevail over you regarding the name of your (Isha) prayer (so that you also begin to call it 'Atamah')."
Hadith 9601
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحٌ مَوْلَى التَّوْءَمَةِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ غَسَّلَ مَيِّتًا فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives a bath to a deceased person should also take a bath himself.
Hadith 9602
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : " كَانَ جُرَيْجٌ يَتَعَبَّدُ فِي صَوْمَعَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَتْهُ أُمُّهُ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا جُرَيْجُ ، أَنَا أُمُّكَ فَكَلِّمْنِي . قَالَ : وَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يَصِفُ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصِفُهَا ، وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى حَاجِبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ ، قَالَ : فَصَادَفَتْهُ يُصَلِّي ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ , أُمِّي وَصَلَاتِي ! فَاخْتَارَ صَلَاتَهُ ، فَرَجَعَتْ ثُمَّ أَتَتْهُ فَصَادَفَتْهُ يُصَلِّي ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا جُرَيْجُ ، أَنَا أُمُّكَ فَكَلِّمْنِي ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ , أُمِّي وَصَلَاتِي ! فَاخْتَارَ صَلَاتَهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَتْهُ فَصَادَفَتْهُ يُصَلِّي ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا جُرَيْجُ ، أَنَا أُمُّكَ فَكَلِّمْنِي ، قَالَ : يَا رَبِّ , أُمِّي وَصَلَاتِي ! فَاخْتَارَ صَلَاتَهُ ، فَقَالَتْ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا جُرَيْجٌ ، وَإِنَّهُ ابْنِي ، وَإِنِّي كَلَّمْتُهُ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُكَلِّمَنِي ، اللَّهُمَّ فَلَا تُمِتْهُ حَتَّى تُرِيَهُ الْمُومِسَاتِ ، وَلَوْ دَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُفْتَتَنَ لَافْتُتِنَ . قَالَ : وَكَانَ رَاعٍ يَأْوِي إِلَى دَيْرِهِ ، قَالَ : فَخَرَجَتِ امْرَأَةٌ فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا الرَّاعِي ، فَوَلَدَتْ غُلَامًا فَقِيلَ : مِمَّنْ هَذَا ؟ ، فَقَالَتْ : هُوَ مِنْ صَاحِبِ الدَّيْرِ . فَأَقْبَلُوا بِفُؤُوسِهِمْ وَمَسَاحِيهِمْ وَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَى الدَّيْرِ فَنَادَوْهُ ، فَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْهُمْ ، فَأَخَذُوا يَهْدِمُونَ دَيْرَهُ ، فَنَزَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالُوا : سَلْ هَذِهِ الْمَرْأَةَ . قَالَ : أُرَاهُ تَبَسَّمَ . قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَسَحَ رَأْسَ الصَّبِيِّ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ أَبُوكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : رَاعِي الضَّأْنِ . فَقَالُوا : يَا جُرَيْجُ نَبْنِي مَا هَدَمْنَا مِنْ دَيْرِكَ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ . قَالَ : لَا ، وَلَكِنْ أَعِيدُوهُ تُرَابًا كَمَا كَانَ . فَفَعَلُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There was a man among the Children of Israel whose name was Jurayj. Once, he was praying when his mother came and called out, "Jurayj, my son! Look towards me, I am your mother, I have come to speak to you." He thought to himself whether he should respond to his mother or continue his prayer. In the end, he did not reply to his mother. This happened several times. Finally, his mother (prayed against him and) said, "O Allah, do not let him die until he has to deal with sinful women."
Meanwhile, a slave girl used to graze her master's goats and would take shelter under his monastery. She committed adultery and became pregnant. The people caught her. At that time, the custom was to kill the adulterer. The people asked her, "Whose child is this?" She said, "This boy is Jurayj's." The people came to Jurayj with axes and ropes and said, "O hypocrite Jurayj! Come down." Jurayj refused to come down and started praying. The people began to demolish his monastery, upon which he came down. The people put a rope around the necks of Jurayj and the woman and began to parade them among the people. He placed his finger on the child's stomach and asked, "O boy, who is your father?" The boy replied, "So-and-so shepherd." The people (seeing this truth) said, "We will rebuild your place of worship with gold and silver." Jurayj replied, "Make it as it was before."

Hadith 9603
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " كَانَ رَجُلٌ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ تَاجِرًا ، وَكَانَ يَنْقُصُ مَرَّةً ، وَيَزِيدُ أُخْرَى ، فَقَالَ : مَا فِي هَذِهِ التِّجَارَةِ خَيْرٌ ، أَلْتَمِسُ تِجَارَةً هِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ ، فَبَنَى صَوْمَعَةً ، وَتَرَهَّبَ فِيهَا ، وَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ جُرَيْجٌ " , فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Children of Israel there was a man who was a merchant; sometimes he would incur a loss in trade and sometimes a profit. He thought to himself, "What kind of trade is this? It is better that I find such a trade in which there is only profit." So he built a church and began to live a monastic life in it. His name was Jurayj. After that, the narrator mentioned the previous hadith in full.
Hadith 9604
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا ضَرَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْتَنِبِ الْوَجْهَ ، وَلَا يَقُلْ : قَبَّحَ اللَّهُ وَجْهَكَ , وَوَجْهَ مَنْ أَشْبَهَ وَجْهَكَ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَلَقَ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عَلَى صُورَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you strikes someone, he should avoid striking the face, and he should not say, "May Allah disgrace your face and the face of one who resembles you," because Allah created Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) in His own image.
Hadith 9605
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تُنْكَحُ الْأَيِّمُ حَتَّى تُسْتَأْمَرَ ، وَلَا تُنْكَحُ الْبِكْرُ حَتَّى تُسْتَأْذَنَ " . قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَيْفَ إِذْنُهَا ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَسْكُتَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Permission should be sought from a virgin girl for marriage, and consultation should be made with a previously married woman. Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a virgin girl feels shy (so how should her permission be obtained)?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Her silence is a sign of her consent.
Hadith 9606
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " ثَلَاثُ دَعَوَاتٍ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِنَّ : دَعْوَةُ الْمُسَافِرِ ، وَالْمَظْلُومِ ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayers of three types of people are accepted and there is no doubt about their acceptance: the prayer of the oppressed, the prayer of the traveler, and the prayer of a father for his son.
Hadith 9607
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ سَجَدَ فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ ، قُلْتُ : تَسْجُدُ فِيهَا ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَجَدَ فِيهَا " .
Abu Salamah says that once he saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) recite Surah Inshiqaq, and when he reached the verse of prostration, he performed the prostration of recitation. I said to him, "I have not seen you perform prostration in this Surah before?" He replied, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prostration in it."
Hadith 9608
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ الْمَعْنَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَمْعَانَ ، قَالَ : أَتَانَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فِي مَسْجِدِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ ، قَالَ : " ثَلَاثٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْمَلُ بِهِنَّ ، قَدْ تَرَكَهُنَّ النَّاسُ : كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ , وَيُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا رَكَعَ وَرَفَعَ ، وَالسُّكُوتُ قَبْلَ الْقِرَاءَةِ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ " . قَالَ يَزِيدُ : يَدْعُو وَيَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ .
Saeed bin Sam'an (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us in the mosque of Banu Zuraiq and said that there are three things which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do, but now people have abandoned them: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to spread both hands and raise them when starting the prayer, he used to say takbeer at every bowing and rising, and before recitation he would remain silent for a while and in that silence he would ask Allah for His bounty.
Hadith 9609
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِلَّهِ مِائَةُ رَحْمَةٍ ، أَنْزَلَ مِنْهَا رَحْمَةً وَاحِدَةً بَيْنَ الْإِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ وَالْهَوَامِّ ، فَبِهَا يَتَعَاطَفُونَ ، وَبِهَا يَتَرَاحَمُونَ ، وَبِهَا تَعْطِفُ الْوَحْشُ عَلَى أَوْلَادِهَا ، وَأَخَّرَ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ يَرْحَمُ بِهَا عِبَادَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has a hundred mercies, out of which He has sent down only one mercy upon all jinn, humans, and animals. Because of this one mercy, they show kindness and compassion to one another, and even wild animals are merciful to their offspring due to this one mercy. The remaining ninety-nine mercies Allah has reserved for the Day of Judgment, through which He will show mercy to His servants.
Hadith 9610
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم لِعَمِّهِ : " قُلْ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ أَشْهَدْ لَكَ بِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " . قَالَ : لَوْلَا أَنْ تُعَيِّرَنِي قُرَيْشٌ ، يَقُولُونَ : إِنَّمَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْجَزَعُ ، لَأَقْرَرْتُ بِهَا عَيْنَكَ . فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : إِنَّكَ لا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ سورة القصص آية 56 .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his uncle (Khawaja Abu Talib at the time of his death): "Acknowledge 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah), so that I may testify on your behalf with it on the Day of Resurrection." He replied, "If it were not that the people of Quraysh would taunt me, saying that he recited this word out of fear, I would cool your eyes (i.e., make you happy by accepting it)." Upon this, Allah revealed this verse: "You cannot guide whom you love."
Hadith 9611
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ مِرَارًا : وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ بِيَدِهِ ، " مَا شَبِعَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَأَهْلُهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ تِبَاعًا مِنْ خُبْزِ حِنْطَةٍ ، حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا " .
Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I saw that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was gesturing with his fingers and kept saying, "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family never filled their stomachs with wheat bread for three consecutive days until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from this world."
Hadith 9612
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يُورِدُ الْمُمْرِضُ عَلَى الْمُصِحِّ " . وَقَالَ : وَقَالَ : " لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا طِيَرَةَ وَلَا هَامَةَ ، فَمَنْ أَعْدَى الْأَوَّلَ ؟ ! " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not bring sick animals near healthy animals. He also said: There is no reality in disease being contagious, bad omens, or the owl being unlucky. Otherwise, who afflicted the first person with this disease?
Hadith 9613
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى ، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ " ، وَقَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً : " لَا صَدَقَةَ إِلَّا مِنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: True charity is with contentment of the heart. The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and you should begin charity and alms with those who are under your responsibility.
Hadith 9614
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا وُضُوءَ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدَثٍ أَوْ رِيحٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wudu becomes obligatory only when a state of impurity occurs or wind passes.
Hadith 9615
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ . ح وَحدَّثَنَا وَحَجَّاجٌ يعني الأعور , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَعْنَى ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَتْ يَعْنِي عِنْدَهُ مَظْلَمَةٌ فِي مَالِهِ أَوْ عِرْضِهِ ، فَلْيَأْتِهِ فَلْيَسْتَحِلَّهَا مِنْهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤْخَذَ أَوْ تُؤْخَذَ ، وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ دِينَارٌ وَلَا دِرْهَمٌ ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَاتٌ أُخِذَ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ فَأُعْطِيَهَا هَذَا ، وَإِلَّا أُخِذَ مِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ هَذَا فَأُلْقِيَ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has wronged someone regarding wealth or honor should go and seek forgiveness from him now, before the day comes when there will be neither dirham nor dinar. If he has good deeds, his good deeds will be taken and given to the one he wronged as recompense. If his good deeds are finished before the matter is settled, then the sins of the wronged will be taken and placed upon him.
Hadith 9616
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الشَّهِيدِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : " كُلُّ الصَّلَاةِ يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا , فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ ، وَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا أَخْفَيْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that recitation is done in every prayer. However, in those prayers in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud to us, we too will recite aloud to you, and in those in which he recited quietly, we too will recite quietly.
Hadith 9617
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : وَرُبَّمَا ذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا يَتَقَرَّبُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَيَّ شِبْرًا إِلَّا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا ، وَلَا يَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا إِلَّا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا ، أَوْ بُوعًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "If a servant comes near to Me by a handspan, I come near to him by a cubit; if he comes near to Me by a cubit, I come near to him by a fathom."
Hadith 9618
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الَّذِي يَطْعَنُ نَفْسَهُ إِنَّمَا يَطْعَنُهَا فِي النَّارِ ، وَالَّذِي يَتَقَحَّمُ فِيهَا يَتَقَحَّمُ فِي النَّارِ ، وَالَّذِي يَخْنُقُ نَفْسَهُ يَخْنُقُهَا فِي النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills himself with a sharp instrument (commits suicide), that sharp instrument will be in his hand with which he will continue to stab his belly in the Hellfire, and he will remain there forever and ever. Whoever drinks poison and kills himself, that poison will be in his hand, and he will continue to sip it in the Hellfire, and he will remain there forever and ever. And whoever strangles himself to death, he will continue to strangle himself in the Hellfire.
Hadith 9619
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَعْنِي : " قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : أَنَا خَيْرُ الشُّرَكَاءِ ، مَنْ عَمِلَ لِي عَمَلًا أَشْرَكَ فِيهِ غَيْرِي ، فَأَنَا مِنْهُ بَرِيءٌ ، وَهُوَ لِلَّذِي أَشْرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) relates this saying from his Lord: "I am the best of all partners. Whoever performs a deed and associates someone else with Me in it, then I am free from him, and that deed will belong to the one whom he associated with Me."
Hadith 9620
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ لَا يُبَالِي الْمَرْءُ بِمَا أَخَذَ مِنَ الْمَالِ ، بِحَلَالٍ أَوْ بِحَرَامٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A time will come upon the people when a person will not care whether he is acquiring wealth through lawful means or unlawful means.
Hadith 9621
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو . ح وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْمُؤْمِنُ يَأْكُلُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ ، وَالْكَافِرُ يَأْكُلُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim eats with one intestine, and a disbeliever eats with seven intestines.
Hadith 9622
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " اخْتَتَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانِينَ ، اخْتَتَنَ بِالْقَدُومِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah performed his circumcision at the age of eighty years. The place where he performed the circumcision was called "Qadoom".
Hadith 9623
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَحْمٍ فَدُفِعَ إِلَيْهِ الذِّرَاعُ ، وَكَانَتْ تُعْجِبُهُ , فَنَهَسَ مِنْهَا نَهْسَةً ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَنَا سَيِّدُ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَهَلْ تَدْرُونَ لِمَ ذَلِكَ ؟ ، يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ فِي صَعِيدٍ وَاحِدٍ ، يُسْمِعُهُمْ الدَّاعِي ، وَيَنْفُذُهُمْ الْبَصَرُ ، وَتَدْنُو الشَّمْسُ ، فَيَبْلُغُ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَالْكَرْبِ مَا لَا يُطِيقُونَ ، وَلَا يَحْتَمِلُونَ ، فَيَقُولُ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ لِبَعْضٍ : أَلَا تَرَوْنَ إِلَى مَا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ إِلَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَكُمْ ؟ أَلَا تَنْظُرُونَ مَنْ يَشْفَعُ لَكُمْ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ؟ فَيَقُولُ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ لِبَعْضٍ : أَبُوكُمْ آدَمُ . فَيَأْتُونَ آدَمَ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا آدَمُ ، أَنْتَ أَبُو الْبَشَرِ خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ ، وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ ، وَأَمَرَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَسَجَدُوا لَكَ ، فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ آدَمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام : إِنَّ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ غَضِبَ الْيَوْمَ غَضَبًا ، لَمْ يَغْضَبْ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَنْ يَغْضَبَ بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَإِنَّهُ نَهَانِي عَنِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَعَصَيْتُهُ نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى غَيْرِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى نُوحٍ . فَيَأْتُونَ نُوحًا ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا نُوحُ ، أَنْتَ أَوَّلُ الرُّسُلِ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ ، وَسَمَّاكَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا ، فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ نُوحٌ : إِنَّ رَبِّي قَدْ غَضِبَ الْيَوْمَ غَضَبًا ، لَمْ يَغْضَبْ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَنْ يَغْضَبَ بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَإِنَّهُ كَانَتْ لِي دَعْوَةٌ عَلَى قَوْمِي , نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى غَيْرِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ . فَيَأْتُونَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَنْتَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ، وَخَلِيلُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ ، اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : إِنَّ رَبِّي قَدْ غَضِبَ الْيَوْمَ غَضَبًا ، لَمْ يَغْضَبْ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَنْ يَغْضَبَ بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، فَذَكَرَ كَذِبَاتِهِ , نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى غَيْرِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام . فَيَأْتُونَ مُوسَى ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا مُوسَى أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَاتِهِ ، وَبِتَكْلِيمِهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ ، اشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ مُوسَى : إِنَّ رَبِّي قَدْ غَضِبَ الْيَوْمَ غَضَبًا ، لَمْ يَغْضَبْ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَنْ يَغْضَبَ بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَإِنِّي قَتَلْتُ نَفْسًا لَمْ أُومَرْ بِقَتْلِهَا , نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، نَفْسِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى غَيْرِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى عِيسَى . فَيَأْتُونَ عِيسَى ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا عِيسَى أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : هَكَذَا هُوَ وَكَلَّمْتَ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ ، فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ عِيسَى : إِنَّ رَبِّي قَدْ غَضِبَ الْيَوْمَ غَضَبًا ، لَمْ يَغْضَبْ قَبْلَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَنْ يَغْضَبَ بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ لَهُ ذَنْبًا اذْهَبُوا إِلَى غَيْرِي ، اذْهَبُوا إِلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . فَيَأْتُونِي ، فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَخَاتَمُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ، غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ ذَنْبَكَ ، مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْهُ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ، فَاشْفَعْ لَنَا إِلَى رَبِّكَ ، أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى مَا نَحْنُ فِيهِ ؟ أَلَا تَرَى مَا قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ؟ فَأَقُومُ ، فَآتِي تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ ، فَأَقَعُ سَاجِدًا لِرَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، ثُمَّ يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ , وَيُلْهِمُنِي مِنْ مَحَامِدِهِ وَحُسْنِ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَفْتَحْهُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ قَبْلِي , فَيُقَالُ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَكَ , وَسَلْ تُعْطَهْ , اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ . فَأَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي ، يَا رَبِّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي ، يَا رَبِّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي ، يَا رَبِّ . فَيَقُولُ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَدْخِلْ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ مَنْ لَا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْبَابِ الْأَيْمَنِ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ النَّاسِ ، فِيمَا سِوَاهُ مِنَ الْأَبْوَابِ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ، لَمَا بَيْنَ مِصْرَاعَيْنِ مِنْ مَصَارِيعِ الْجَنَّةِ ، كَمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَهَجَرَ ، أَوْ كَمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَبُصْرَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some meat was presented to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the foreleg of a goat was picked up and given to him because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked the meat of the foreleg. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tore off some meat from it with his teeth and then said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be the leader of all people. Do you know what is the reason for my being the leader? The reason is that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will gather all the former and latter people in one plain. A caller will make them hear his voice, and all eyes will be able to see everything in front of them, and the sun will come near (over their heads), and an unbearable distress will overwhelm the people. Some people will say: Look at what your condition has reached; you should find someone who can intercede for us before Allah Almighty. So some people will say: Go to Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him). All the people will go to Adam (peace be upon him) and say: You are the father of all mankind; Allah created you with His own hand, breathed His spirit into you, and commanded the angels to prostrate to you, and they prostrated to you. Do you not know what calamity we are in? Do you not see what our condition has become? Please intercede for us before Allah Almighty. Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) will say: Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before nor will ever be after. He forbade me to eat from the tree, but I disobeyed His command. Myself, myself, myself! Leave me and go to Noah. The people will go to Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) and say: You are the first Messenger of Allah on earth, Allah named you a grateful servant. You see what calamity we are in; please intercede for us before Allah. Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) will say: Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before nor will ever be after. I have already supplicated against my people (which caused the whole nation to be drowned). Myself, myself, myself! Leave me and go to Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him). The people will go to Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and say: You are Allah’s Prophet and His friend. You see what calamity we are in; please intercede for us before Allah. Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will say: Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before nor will ever be after. And I told three lies (in the world). Myself, myself, myself! Leave me and go to Musa (peace be upon him). The people will go to Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) and say: You are Allah’s Messenger; Allah granted you the honor of speaking to Him above all people. You see what calamity we are in; please intercede for us before Allah. Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) will say: Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before nor will ever be after. And I committed a murder for which I was not commanded. Myself, myself, myself! Leave me and go to Isa (peace be upon him). The people will go to Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) and say: You are Allah’s Messenger and His Word, and you are also the Spirit of Allah. You spoke to people while you were still a small child in the cradle. Please intercede for us before Allah today. Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will not mention any fault of his, but he will say: Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before nor will ever be after. Leave me and go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The people will come to me and say: You are Allah’s Messenger, the Seal of the Prophets (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah has forgiven your past and future faults. You see what calamity we are in; please intercede for us before Allah. Upon hearing this, I will immediately go and fall in prostration before my Lord under the Throne. Allah Almighty will cause such praises and glorifications to flow from my tongue as He has never caused to flow from anyone’s tongue before me. Then it will be said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), raise your head and ask, your request will be granted; intercede, your intercession will be accepted. I will raise my head and say: O my Lord, my Ummah! O my Lord, my Ummah! It will be said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), admit your Ummah into Paradise without reckoning through the right-hand gate, and they will also share in the other gates (meaning...
Hadith 9624
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا شَتَمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْجَبُ وَيَتَبَسَّمُ ، فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضَ قَوْلِهِ ، فَغَضِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَامَ ، فَلَحِقَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَانَ يَشْتُمُنِي وَأَنْتَ جَالِسٌ ، فَلَمَّا رَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضَ قَوْلِهِ ، غَضِبْتَ وَقُمْتَ ؟ ! ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَكَ مَلَكٌ يَرُدُّ عَنْكَ ، فَلَمَّا رَدَدْتَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضَ قَوْلِهِ وَقَعَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، فَلَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَقْعُدَ مَعَ الشَّيْطَانِ " . ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ثَلَاثٌ كُلُّهُنَّ حَقٌّ : مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ ظُلِمَ بِمَظْلَمَةٍ فَيُغْضِي عَنْهَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَّا أَعَزَّ اللَّهُ بِهَا نَصْرَهُ ، وَمَا فَتَحَ رَجُلٌ بَابَ عَطِيَّةٍ يُرِيدُ بِهَا صِلَةً إِلَّا زَادَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا كَثْرَةً ، وَمَا فَتَحَ رَجُلٌ بَابَ مَسْأَلَةٍ يُرِيدُ بِهَا كَثْرَةً إِلَّا زَادَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَا قِلَّةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man abused Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) in the presence of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept expressing wonder and smiling at Hazrat Siddiq Akbar’s (may Allah be pleased with him) silence, but when that man went too far, Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) also replied to one of his remarks. At this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up in displeasure. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) followed and submitted, “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as long as he kept abusing me, you remained seated, but when I replied to one of his remarks, you became angry and stood up?” The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “There was an angel with you who was replying to him on your behalf, but when you replied to him, Satan came in between, so I could not remain seated in the presence of Satan.” Then he said, “O Abu Bakr! Three things are true: (1) Whoever is wronged and remains silent for the sake of Allah, Allah will surely grant him mighty help; (2) Whoever opens the door of generosity for the sake of maintaining ties of kinship, Allah increases his wealth accordingly; (3) And whoever opens the door of begging to increase his wealth, Allah increases his poverty.”
Hadith 9625
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي وَهْبُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ أَبِي عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ ؟ ، قَالَ : غُنَيْمَةً لِي . قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، " امْسَحْ رُعَامَهَا ، وَأَطِبْ مُرَاحَهَا ، وَصَلِّ فِي جَانِبِ مُرَاحِهَا ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ دَوَابِّ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَأْنَسْ بِهَا " ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّهَا أَرْضٌ قَلِيلَةُ الْمَطَرِ " ، قَالَ : يَعْنِي الْمَدِينَةَ .
Wahb bin Kaysan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once my father passed by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked, "Where are you intending to go?" My father replied, "I am going to my goats' enclosure." Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Alright, clean their noses, keep their grazing place clean, and be gentle with them in the pasture, for they are animals of Paradise. And keep affection for them, because I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say regarding the land of Madinah that this area receives little rainfall."
Hadith 9626
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَلْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكْرَهُ الشِّكَالَ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked a horse whose three legs were white and the fourth leg was of the same color as the rest of the body.
Hadith 9627
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْقَعْقَاعُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ رَجُلًا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى ، وَأَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ فَصَلَّتْ ، فَإِنْ أَبَتْ نَضَحَ فِي وَجْهِهَا الْمَاءَ ، وَرَحِمَ اللَّهُ امْرَأَةً قَامَتْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، وَأَيْقَظَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَصَلَّى ، فَإِنْ أَبَى نَضَحَتْ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْمَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah bestow His mercy upon the person who gets up at night and prays himself and also wakes up his wife to pray, and if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face.
Hadith 9628
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْحَصَاةِ ، وَبَيْعِ الْغَرَرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling by throwing pebbles and from deceptive trade.
Hadith 9629
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتٌ الزُّرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ فَإِنَّهَا تَجِيءُ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَالْعَذَابِ ، وَلَكِنْ سَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ خَيْرِهَا ، وَتَعَوَّذُوا مِنْ شَرِّهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the wind, for it comes with both mercy and hardship. Rather, ask Allah for its goodness and seek refuge with Him from its evil.
