The people said, "Glory be to Allah! Do bulls ever speak?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I, Abu Bakr, and Umar believe in this." Then he said: "A man was among his flock of goats when a wolf attacked the flock and snatched away a goat. The man chased after the wolf (and after going some distance, caught up with it and rescued his goat). Seeing this, the wolf, by the power of Allah, spoke and said: 'O so-and-so! Today you have rescued this goat from me, but who will rescue it on the day when I will be its only shepherd?' The people said, 'Glory be to Allah! Does a wolf also speak?' It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are some angels of Allah Almighty, who are appointed for a task other than the angels who write the deeds of people. These angels roam about on the earth. Whenever these angels see some people engaged in the remembrance of Allah, they call out to each other, saying, "Come to your objective." Thus, they all gather together and cover those people up to the sky of the world. (Then when they ascend to the heavens,) Allah asks them, "In what state did you leave My servants?" They say, "We left them while they were praising and glorifying You and remembering You." Allah asks, "Have they seen Me?" They say, "No." Allah asks, "If they had seen Me, what would have happened?" They say, "If they had seen You, they would have been even more intensely engaged in Your praise, glorification, and remembrance." Allah asks, "What were they seeking?" They say, "They were seeking Paradise." Allah asks, "Have they seen Paradise?" They say, "No." Allah asks, "If they had seen Paradise, what would have happened?" They say, "If they had seen Paradise, they would have been even more eager and desirous for it." Allah asks, "From what were they seeking refuge?" They say, "From Hell." Allah asks, "Have they seen Hell?" They say, "No." Allah asks, "If they had seen Hell, what would have happened?" They say, "If they had seen Hell, they would have fled from it and feared it even more intensely." Allah says, "Bear witness that I have forgiven all of their sins." The angels say, "Among them is such-and-such a sinful person who did not come for their sake, but some need or necessity brought him." Allah says, "This is a group whose companion will never be deprived."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever owns treasures and does not pay their due right, all his treasures will be melted into a slab and heated in the fire of Hell. Then, with it, his forehead, sides, and back will be branded until Allah decides among His servants. That will be a day whose length, according to your reckoning, will be equal to fifty thousand years. After that, he will be shown his path either to Paradise or to Hell.

Similarly, the man who owns camels but does not pay their due zakat, all those camels will come on the Day of Resurrection in a healthier state than before, and the ground will be made soft for them. Thus, they will trample him with their hooves. As soon as the last camel passes over him, the first one will return, and this will continue until Allah decides among His servants. That will be a day whose length, according to your reckoning, will be equal to fifty thousand years. After that, he will be shown his path either to Paradise or to Hell.

Similarly, the man who owns goats but does not pay their due zakat, all those goats will come on the Day of Resurrection in a healthier state than before, and the ground will be made soft for them. Then, they will gore him with their horns and trample him with their hooves. There will be no goat among them with twisted horns or without horns. As soon as the last goat passes over him, the first one will return, and this will continue until Allah decides among His servants. That will be a day whose length, according to your reckoning, will be equal to fifty thousand years. After that, he will be shown his path either to Paradise or to Hell.

Then someone asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about horses. He said: The foreheads of horses are a source of protection and beauty, and sometimes a cause of punishment. The person for whom a horse is a source of reward is the one who keeps and prepares it for jihad in the way of Allah. Whatever goes into the belly of such a horse is a source of reward for him. If it drinks water from a river while passing by, the water that enters its belly is also a source of reward. If it eats something while passing by somewhere, that too is a source of reward for that person. If it climbs a hill, for every hoofbeat and every step, he will be given a reward, until the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) even mentioned its dung and urine.

And the horse that is a source of protection and beauty for a person is for the one who keeps it for adornment and does not neglect the rights of its belly and back in ease or hardship.

And the horse that is a source of burden for a person is for the one who keeps horses out of pride, arrogance, and show.

Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about donkeys. He said: Allah has revealed about them this comprehensive verse: Whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

He sent word through the messenger that he was fasting. So the people began to eat. When they were about to finish eating, Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived and started eating. The people began to look at the messenger. He said, "Why are you staring at me? He himself told me that he was fasting." Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "He is telling the truth. I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Fasting the complete month of Ramadan and three days in every month is equal to fasting the whole year.' Therefore, I fast three days every month. When I do not fast, I am under the shade of Allah's concession, and when I fast, I am under the shade of Allah's multiplication (the reward of every deed being doubled)."

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says that before this, I never had a desire for leadership, but in the hope that perhaps the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would hand the flag to me, I began to raise my neck and look around. But when the next day came, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) and handed the flag to him and said, "Fight them and do not turn your attention elsewhere until victory is achieved." So he set out, and after going a little distance, he called out and asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), how long should I fight them?" He replied, "Until they bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. When they do so, they have protected their lives and property from me except for the right of this word, and their reckoning is with Allah."

Allah has made its fasting obligatory upon you. In this blessed month, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained. In this month, there is a night which is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its goodness and blessings is truly deprived.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Children of Israel there was a man named Jurayj. Once, he was praying when his mother came and called out, "Jurayj, my son! Look towards me, I am your mother, I have come to speak to you." He thought to himself, "Should I respond to my mother or continue my prayer?" In the end, he did not reply to his mother. This happened several times. Finally, his mother (prayed against him and) said, "O Allah, do not let him die until he is confronted by wicked women."

Meanwhile, there was a slave girl who used to graze her master's goats and would take shelter under his monastery. She committed adultery and became pregnant. The people caught her. At that time, the custom was to kill the adulterer. The people asked her, "Whose child is this?" She said, "This boy is Jurayj's." The people came to Jurayj with axes and ropes and said, "O hypocrite, Jurayj, come down!" Jurayj refused to come down and started praying. The people began to demolish his monastery, upon which he came down. The people put a rope around the necks of Jurayj and the woman and paraded them among the people. He placed his finger on the child's stomach and asked, "O boy, who is your father?" The boy replied, "So-and-so shepherd." The people (seeing this truth) said, "We will rebuild your place of worship with gold and silver." Jurayj replied, "Make it as it was before."
