So Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) went and saw Paradise and the blessings prepared in it, and returned and submitted in the Divine Court: "By Your honor, whoever hears about it will surely wish to enter it." Then, by Allah's command, it was covered with undesirable and unpleasant things. Allah said: "Now go and see it and its blessings again." So he went again; this time it was covered with unpleasant matters. He returned and submitted: "By Your honor, I fear that now no one will be able to enter it." Allah said: "Now go and see Hell and the punishments prepared for the people of Hell." When he reached there, one part of it was overtaking the other. He returned and said: "By Your honor, no person who hears about it will wish to enter it." Then, by Allah's command, it was covered with desires. Narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Fajr prayer and, upon returning, passed by the women present in the mosque, stopped there, and said: "O group of women, I have not seen any creature more deficient in intelligence and religion, yet more capable of seizing the hearts of wise men, than you. And I have seen that on the Day of Resurrection, the majority of the people of Hell will be from among you. Therefore, give charity as much as you can to seek nearness to Allah." Among those women was the wife of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). She went home and narrated the saying of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and took her jewelry to leave. Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Where are you taking this?" She replied, "I wish to seek nearness to Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) through this, so that Allah does not make me among the people of Hell." He said, "Bring it to me and give it in charity to me and my child, for we are deserving of it." His wife said, "By Allah, this cannot be. I will take it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself." So she went and sought permission to enter the house of Prophethood. People said, "O Messenger of Allah! Zainab seeks permission." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Which Zainab?" (as this was the name of several women). The people replied, "The wife of Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said, "Allow her to enter." So she entered and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I heard a hadith from you. When I returned to my husband Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), I narrated that hadith to him and took my jewelry to come, so that I may seek nearness to Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), hoping that Allah will not count me among the people of Hell. Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, 'Give it in charity to me and my child, for we are deserving of it.' I told him that I would first seek permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Give it to them in charity, for they are indeed deserving of it." Then she said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), please tell me, when you stood among us, I heard you say another thing: 'I have not seen any creature more capable of seizing the hearts of wise men, yet more deficient in intelligence and religion, than you.' O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is meant by deficiency in our religion and intelligence?" He said, "Do you not remember the deficiency in your religion? Those days that come upon you, and as long as Allah wills, you remain in that state, you cannot perform prayer or fast; this is the deficiency in religion. As for the deficiency in intelligence, it is that the testimony of a woman is half that of a man."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "On that Day, the earth will declare its news," and said, "Do you know what is meant by the news of the earth?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best." He said, "The news of the earth means that the earth will testify about every man and woman regarding all the deeds they did while living on its surface, and it will say, 'You did such-and-such deed on such-and-such day.' This is what is meant by the news of the earth."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This month has cast its shadow over you. By Allah, the Prophet swears that no month casts its shadow over the Muslims better than the month of Ramadan, and no month is harsher upon the hypocrites than Ramadan. Allah Almighty begins to write its reward and voluntary acts before its arrival, and He also begins to write the persistence of the hypocrites in their sins and their wretchedness beforehand. The reason for this is that Muslims prepare strength for worship in this month, while the hypocrites seek out people's heedlessness and faults. Thus, this month is a bounty for the Muslim, over which the sinful people are envious.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of Hajj or Umrah when, on the way, we saw a swarm of locusts. We started hitting them with our whips and sticks, and they began to fall one by one in front of us. We thought, "We are in the state of Ihram, what should we do with them?" Then we asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said, "There is no harm (in hunting from the sea)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A man was walking on the road when he was overcome by intense thirst. He found a well nearby, so he went down into the well, quenched his thirst, and came out. Suddenly, he saw a dog that was licking mud out of thirst. He thought to himself that this dog must be as thirsty as I was. So he went down into the well again, filled his sock with water, held it in his mouth, came out, and gave the dog water to drink. Allah appreciated this deed of his and forgave him. When the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) heard this, they asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is there a reward for us even in (doing good to) animals?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "There is a reward in (doing good to) every living being with a moist liver."
