Hadith 8675
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثَةٌ كُلُّهُمْ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ : عِيَادَةُ الْمَرِيضِ ، وَشُهُودُ الْجِنَازَةِ ، وَتَشْمِيتُ الْعَاطِسِ إِذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three things that are the right of every Muslim upon another Muslim: to visit the sick, to attend the funeral prayer, and to respond to the one who sneezes (by saying "Yarhamuk Allah") when he says "Alhamdulillah."
Hadith 8676
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ لَهِيعَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْوَرْدِ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : الْمَدِيني ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يقوَلَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْخَيْلَ الْمُنَفِّلَةَ ، فَإِنَّهَا إِنْ تَلْقَ تَفِرَّ ، وَإِنْ تَغْنَمْ تَغُلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Refrain from using those horses that become fat by eating fragrant grass, for if they encounter the enemy, they run away, and if they obtain spoils of war, they commit treachery."
Hadith 8677
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا اكْتَحَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَكْتَحِلْ وِتْرًا ، وَإِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ فَلْيَسْتَجْمِرْ وِتْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you applies kohl, he should pass the stick in his eyes an odd number of times, and when he performs istinja with stones, he should also use an odd number of stones.
Hadith 8678
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا غَزَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْبَرَ ، فَأَصَابَهُ مِنْ سَهْمِهَا دِينَارَانِ ، فَأَخَذَهُمَا الْأَعْرَابِيُّ فَجَعَلَهُمَا فِي عَبَاءَتِهِ ، وَخَيَّطَ عَلَيْهِمَا ، وَلَفَّ عَلَيْهِمَا ، فَمَاتَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ ، فَوَجَدُوا الدِّينَارَيْنِ ، فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " كَيَّتَان " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin participated in the Battle of Khaybar with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He received two dinars as his share, which he took and sewed into his cloak. When he died, the people found those two dinars. They mentioned this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are two coals from the fire of Hell."
Hadith 8679
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْرَجُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " التَّكْبِيرُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ سَبْعًا قَبْلَ الْقِرَاءَةِ ، وَخَمْسًا بَعْدَ الْقِرَاءَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the two Eids, there are seven takbeers before the recitation (in the first rak'ah), and five takbeers after the recitation in the second rak'ah.
Hadith 8680
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ رَشْحُهُمْ الْمِسْكُ وَوُقُودُهُمْ الْأَلُوَّةُ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، مَا الْأَلُوَّةُ ؟ قَالَ : الْعُودُ الْهِنْدِيُّ الْجَيِّدُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The sweat of the people of Paradise will be fragrant like musk, and Indian aloeswood will be placed in their censers (which will make the entire atmosphere fragrant).
Hadith 8681
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَذَاكَرُوا الْكَمَأَةَ ، فَقَالُوا : هِيَ جُدَرِيُّ الْأَرْضِ ، وَمَا نَرَى أَكْلَهَا يَصْلُح ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " الْكَمَأَةُ مِنَ الْمَنِّ ، وَمَاؤُهَا شِفَاءٌ لِلْعَيْنِ ، وَالْعَجْوَةُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَهِيَ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ السُّمِّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his companions and they were expressing their opinions about that tree which springs up from the surface of the earth and does not remain fixed. Some people said, "In our opinion, it is the mushroom." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The mushroom is a part of manna (which was sent down upon the Children of Israel), and its water is a cure for the eyes. And the Ajwa date is a date from Paradise and is a cure for poison."
Hadith 8682
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاء وهو ابنُ عبد الرحمنُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : وَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ أُبَيٌّ أُمَّ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَقَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، مَا أُنْزِلَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ ، وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ ، وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ ، وَلَا فِي الْفُرْقَانِ مِثْلُهَا ، إِنَّهَا السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah Al-Fatiha, so the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, neither in the Torah, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Psalms, nor even in the Qur'an itself has any other surah like this been revealed. This is the very Sab‘ al-Mathani and the Great Qur'an which has been given to me.
Hadith 8683
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُصُّ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ سورة الرحمن آية 46 ، فَقُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ النبي اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الثَّانِيَةَ : وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ سورة الرحمن آية 46 ، فَقُلْتُ في الثَّانِيَةَ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الثَّالِثَةَ : وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَان سورة الرحمن آية 46 ، فَقُلْتُ الثَّالِثَةَ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَإِنْ رَغِمَ أَنْفُ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this from the pulpit during a sermon: "For the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the same verse again: "For the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens." This question and answer happened three times. The third time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, even if Abu Darda's nose becomes dust-covered."
Hadith 8684
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سُهَيْلٍ نَافِعُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا جَاءَ رَمَضَانُ ، فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ ، وَصُفِّدَتْ الشَّيَاطِينُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.
Hadith 8685
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سُهَيْلٍ نَافِعُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلَاثٌ : إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ ، وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three signs of a hypocrite: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when something is entrusted to him, he betrays the trust.
Hadith 8686
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا عُمْرَى ، فَمَنْ أُعْمِرَ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no validity in dedicating something as waqf (endowment) for a lifetime; the person to whom such a thing is given, it belongs to him.
Hadith 8687
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقَرَّاظَ يَصِيحُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَرَادَ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ بِسُوءٍ ، أَذَابَهُ اللَّهُ كَمَا يَذُوبُ الْمِلْحُ فِي الْمَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever intends evil against the people of Madinah, Allah will melt him as salt melts in water.
Hadith 8688
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثٌ كُلُّهُنَّ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ : عِيَادَةُ الْمَرِيضِ ، وَاتِّبَاعُ الْجَنَائِزِ ، وَتَشْمِيتُ الْعَاطِسِ إِذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .

Hadith 8689
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا تَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ مَا يَتَمَنَّى ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا يُكْتَبُ لَهُ مِنْ أُمْنِيَّتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you wishes for something, let him see what he is wishing for, because he does not know what has been written in his wish.
Hadith 8690
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، بَاعَدَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts for one day for the sake of Allah's pleasure, Allah will distance him from Hell by a distance of seventy years.
Hadith 8691
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ مُؤَذِّنُ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدًا الْمَقْبُرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْكَسْبِ كَسْبُ يَدَيْ عَامِلٍ إِذَا نَصَحَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best earning is that which a laborer earns with his own hands, provided he works with sincerity.
Hadith 8692
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، سَمِعْتُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : ثَلَاثَةٌ أَنَا خَصْمُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ كُنْتُ خَصْمَهُ خَصَمْتُهُ رَجُلٌ أَعْطَى بِي ثُمَّ غَدَرَ ، وَرَجُلٌ بَاعَ حُرًّا فَأَكَلَ ثَمَنَهُ ، وَرَجُلٌ اسْتَأْجَرَ أَجِيرًا فَاسْتَوْفَى مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُوَفِّهِ أَجْرَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "There are three types of people for whom I will be an opponent on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever I oppose, I will prevail over him: First, the person who makes a promise with Me and then deceives Me (breaks the promise); second, the person who sells a free man and consumes his price; and third, the person who hires someone for work, takes full work from him, but does not give him his due wages."
Hadith 8693
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ السَّبْقِ ، فَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَا سَبْقَ إِلَّا فِي خُفٍّ أَوْ حَافِرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Only camels or horses may be raced.
Hadith 8694
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ وَرْدَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا وَدَّعَ أَحَدًا ، قَالَ : " أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكَ ، وَأَمَانَتَكَ ، وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would bid someone farewell, he would say: "I entrust your religion, your trust, and the end of your deeds to Allah."
Hadith 8695
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَوْلًى لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَضِّئْنِي ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوءٍ فَاسْتَنْجَى ، ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِي التُّرَابِ فَمَسَحَهَا ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَهَا ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رِجْلَاكَ لَمْ تَغْسِلْهُمَا ! قَالَ : " إِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once said to me, "Make me perform ablution." So I brought water for ablution. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) first performed istinja, then put his hands in the soil and rubbed soil on them, then washed them, then performed complete ablution, and at the end wiped over his leather socks (khuffs). I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, you did not wash your feet?" He replied, "I put on these socks while in a state of ablution."
Hadith 8696
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَائِدَةَ بْنِ نَشِيطٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يعنى " قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ ، تَفَرَّغْ لِعِبَادَتِي أَمْلَأْ صَدْرَكَ غِنًى ، وَأَسُدَّ فَقْرَكَ ، وَإِلَّا تَفْعَلْ مَلَأْتُ صَدْرَكَ شُغْلًا ، وَلَمْ أَسُدَّ فَقْرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "O son of Adam, free yourself for My worship, I will fill your chest with richness and I will close the door of poverty before you. If you do not do so, I will fill your chest with occupations and I will not remove your poverty."
Hadith 8697
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا كَامِلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَذْهَبُ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى تَصِيرَ لِلُكَعِ ابْنِ لُكَعٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The world will not perish until the reins of government fall into the hands of a vile son of a vile man.
Hadith 8698
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا كَامِلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْمُكْثِرِينَ يَعْنِي هُمْ الْأَقَلُّونَ ، إِلَّا مَنْ قَالَ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who possess abundant wealth and riches will be the ones in loss, except for those who distribute it with both hands to their right, left, and in front of them."
Hadith 8699
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " قَلْبُ الشَّيْخِ شَابٌّ عَلَى حُبِّ اثْنَتَيْنِ طُولِ الْحَيَاةِ ، وَكَثْرَةِ الْمَالِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: In an old man, two desires become young: the desire for a long life and the abundance of wealth and property.
Hadith 8700
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " لَمَّا قَضَى اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ ، كَتَبَ فِي كِتَابٍ فَهُوَ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ : إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي غَلَبَتْ غَضَبِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah decided to bring creation into existence, He wrote in a book which is with Him above the Throne: "My mercy prevails over My wrath."
Hadith 8701
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَبِيحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ الْمَنِيحَةُ ، تَغْدُو بِأَجْرٍ وَتَرُوحُ بِأَجْرٍ ، وَمَنِيحَةُ النَّاقَةِ كَعِتَاقَةِ الْأَحْمَر ، وَمَنِيحَةُ الشَّاةِ كَعِتَاقَةِ الْأَسْوَدِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best charity is a milking goat which becomes a source of reward morning and evening. The charity of a milking she-camel is like freeing a red-skinned slave, and the charity of a milking goat is like freeing a black-skinned slave.
Hadith 8702
حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : " جُهْدُ الْمُقِلِّ ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he submitted in the court of the Messenger, "O Messenger of Allah! Which charity is the best?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The charity given by a person who is himself in financial difficulty, by working hard and giving charity (is the best). And (remember) begin charity with those who are under your responsibility."
Hadith 8703
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ السَّنَةُ بِأَنْ لَا تُمْطَرُوا ، وَلَكِنَّ السَّنَةَ أَنْ تُمْطَرُوا ثُمَّ تُمْطَرُوا فَلَا تُنْبِتُ الْأَرْضُ شَيْئًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Famine is not that there is no rainfall; famine is that rain falls abundantly from the sky but nothing grows from the earth.
Hadith 8704
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَلَائِكَةً فُضُلًا ، يَتَّبِعُونَ مَجَالِسَ الذِّكْرِ ، يَجْتَمِعُونَ عِنْدَ الذِّكْرِ ، فَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِمَجْلِسٍ عَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ حَتَّى يَبْلُغُوا الْعَرْشَ ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُمْ ، وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ : مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتُم ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ : مِنْ عِنْدِ عَبِيدٍ لَكَ ، يَسْأَلُونَكَ الْجَنَّةَ ، وَيَتَعَوَّذُونَ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَكَ ، فَيَقُولُ عزََّ وجلَّ : يَسْأَلُونِي جَنَّتِي ، هَلْ رَأَوْهَا ، فَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْهَا ؟ وَيَتَعَوَّذُونَ مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ ، فَكَيْفَ لَوْ رَأَوْهَا ؟ فَإِنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : رَبَّنَا ، إِنَّ فِيهِمْ عَبْدَكَ الْخَطَّاءَ فُلَانًا ، مَرَّ بِهِمْ لِحَاجَةٍ لَهُ ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِمْ ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : أُولَئِكَ الْجُلَسَاءُ لَا يَشْقَى بِهِمْ جَلِيسُهُم " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: There are some angels of Allah Almighty, who are appointed for a task other than the angels who write the deeds of people. These angels roam the earth. Whenever they see some people engaged in the remembrance of Allah, they all gather together and cover those people up to the sky of the world. (Then when they ascend to the heavens,) Allah asks them, although He knows better than them, "From where have you come?" They say, "We have come from Your servants. Those people were seeking Paradise, seeking refuge from Hell, and asking forgiveness for their sins from You." Allah asks, "Have they seen Paradise? If they had seen Paradise, what would have happened? They were seeking refuge from Hell; if they had seen Hell, what would have happened?" Allah says, "I have forgiven all their sins." The angels say, "Among them was such-and-such a sinful person who did not come himself but was brought there by some need or compulsion." Allah says, "This is such a gathering that whoever sits with them will never be deprived."
Hadith 8705
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ بن أبى صالح ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَلَائِكَةً سَيَّارَةً فُضُلًا ، يَلْتَمِسُونَ مَجَالِسَ الذِّكْرِ " ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 8706
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْءَمَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُرَى عَضَلَةُ سَاقِهِ مِنْ تَحْتِ إِزَارِهِ إِذَا اتَّزَرَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tied his lower garment, the calf muscle of his shin would be visible from beneath the garment.
Hadith 8707
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَوَعَدَنِي أَنْ يُدْخِلَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةِ الْبَدْرِ ، فَاسْتَزَدْتُ ، فَزَادَنِي مَعَ كُلِّ أَلْفٍ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا ، فَقُلْتُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هَؤُلَاءِ مُهَاجِرِي أُمَّتِي ؟ ! قَالَ : إِذَنْ أُكْمِلَهُمْ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I requested my Lord, and He promised me that He would admit seventy thousand people from my Ummah into Paradise, shining and radiant like the full moon of the fourteenth night. I requested my Lord for further increase in this, so He added seventy thousand with each thousand. I asked, "O Lord, what if these people are not from the emigrants of my Ummah?" (If the number of emigrants is less?) Allah said: Then I will complete this number from the villagers.
Hadith 8708
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ يَعْنِي الطَّيَالِسِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ مُوسَى السُّلَمِيُّ الدَّقِيقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَاسِعٍ ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ نَهَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : لَوْ أَنَّ عِبَادِي أَطَاعُونِي ، لَأَسْقَيْتُهُمْ الْمَطَرَ بِاللَّيْلِ ، وَأَطْلَعْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ الشَّمْسَ بِالنَّهَارِ ، وَلَمَا أَسْمَعْتُهُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّعْدِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, "If My servants begin to obey Me, I will satiate them with rain at night, make the sun shine upon them during the day, and will not let them hear the thunder of the clouds."
Hadith 8709
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ حُسْنَ الظَّنِّ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ حُسْنِ عِبَادَةِ اللَّهِ " .
And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Good expectation (of Allah) is also a part of good worship.
Hadith 8710
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جَدِّدُوا إِيمَانَكُم " ، قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَيْفَ نُجَدِّدُ إِيمَانَنَا ؟ قَالَ : " أَكْثِرُوا مِنْ قَوْلِ : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " .
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Keep renewing your faith. Someone asked, O Messenger of Allah! How can we renew our faith? He said: Recite "La ilaha illallah" in abundance.
Hadith 8711
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا ، أَوْ وَضَعَ لَهُ ، أَظَلَّهُ اللَّهُ فِي ظِلِّ عَرْشِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever grants respite to a distressed debtor or forgives him, Allah Almighty will grant him a place under the shade of His Throne on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 8712
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ قُرَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُّ كَلَامٍ أَوْ أَمْرٍ ذِي بَالٍ لَا يُفْتَحُ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَهُوَ أَبْتَرُ أَوْ قَالَ أَقْطَعُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every action or speech that does not begin with the remembrance of Allah remains cut off.
Hadith 8713
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ شُبَيْلِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ لِثَوْبَانَ : " كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا ثَوْبَانُ إِذْ تَدَاعَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ الْأُمَمُ كَتَدَاعِيكُمْ عَلَى قَصْعَةِ الطَّعَامِ يُصِيبُونَ مِنْهُ ؟ ! " قَالَ ثَوْبَانُ : بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ بِنَا ؟ قَالَ : " لَا ، بل أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ ، وَلَكِنْ يُلْقَى فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ الْوَهَنُ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا الْوَهَنُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " حُبُّكُمْ الدُّنْيا ، وَكَرَاهِيَتُكُمْ الْقِتَالَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him): "Thawban! What will be your condition when the nations of the world will call each other against you as people invite each other to a feast?" Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, will it be because our numbers will be few at that time?" He replied, "No, rather at that time your numbers will be many, but 'wahn' will be cast into your hearts." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is 'wahn'?" He replied, "Love of the world and dislike of jihad."
Hadith 8714
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْبَلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ ، وَلَا يَقْبَلُ الصَّدَقَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to accept gifts for himself but did not accept charity.
