Musnad Ahmad

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah, I seek from You a promise which You will never break with me, that if I, being human, have caused any harm to a Muslim, or spoken harshly to him, or struck him, or cursed him, then make it for him a source of mercy, purification, and a means of nearness to You on the Day of Resurrection.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It was not made lawful for anyone before us to use the spoils of war, but when Allah saw our weakness and humility, He made it lawful for us.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman entered Hell because of a cat which she had tied up; she neither fed it nor gave it water, nor did she let it go so that it could eat the insects of the earth by itself.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At the moment when a person steals, he is not a believer; at the moment when a person drinks alcohol, he is not a believer; and at the moment when a person commits adultery, he is not a believer. By the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), none of you is a believer at the time when he seizes a valuable thing to which people raise their eyes, and none of you is a believer at the time when he commits treachery. Therefore, protect yourselves from these things.

And the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace be upon him), if anyone from this Ummah, or any Jew or Christian, hears my word and then dies without believing in the revelation that has been sent to me, he will be among the inhabitants of Hell.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Saying "Subhan Allah" to alert the Imam upon his mistake is prescribed for male followers, and clapping is prescribed for women.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever receives a wound in the path of Allah, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with it fresh as it was on the day it was inflicted; its color will be like blood, but its fragrance will be like musk.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah, when I return to my house and I see a date fallen on my bed or inside the house, I pick it up to eat it, but then I fear that it might be from charity, so I set it aside.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Asking questions will become prevalent among you, until some of you will begin to ask: "Allah created all of creation, then who created Allah?"

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you insists on his oath regarding his family (even though he is wrong), then this is a greater sin in the sight of Allah than the expiation which has been enjoined upon him.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When two men are compelled to take an oath and both wish to swear, then lots should be drawn.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever (being deceived) buys a she-camel or a goat whose teats have been tied, then he has the choice of two things, whichever is better for him: either he keeps the animal with himself (and settles the matter), or he returns the animal to its owner and gives along with it one sa’ of dates.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In an old man, love for two things develops: a long life and abundance of wealth.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should point a weapon towards his brother, for he does not know; it may be that Satan snatches it from his hand and the man falls into a pit of Hell.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The severe wrath of Allah descended upon those people who did such to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." At that time, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was pointing towards his four front teeth.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The severe wrath of Allah descends upon the person whom a prophet has killed with his own hand in jihad in the way of Allah.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah has decreed for every human being his share of adultery, which he will inevitably encounter. The adultery of the eyes is looking, the adultery of the tongue is speaking. A person’s soul desires and wishes, while the private parts confirm or deny it.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The town which you entered and stayed in for some time, after its conquest, you have a share in its spoils. And the town that disobeys Allah and His Messenger, then its fifth is for Allah and His Messenger, then it is for you."

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the beauty of Islam is found in any one of you, then for every good deed that he does, a reward is written for him from ten times up to seven hundred times, and for every sin that he commits, only that much is written. This continues until he meets Allah, the Exalted.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When you lead the prayer as an imam, then make the prayer light, because among the worshippers are the elderly, the weak, and the sick. However, when you pray alone, then make it as long as you wish.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The angels say, "O Lord, Your such-and-such servant intends to commit a sin." Allah, although He sees him well, says to the angel, "Keep watch over him. If he commits the sin, then write only as much as he has done, and if he refrains from the sin, then write a good deed for him, because he refrained from the sin for My sake."

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says: My servant denies Me, though he should not do so, and he abuses Me, though he has no right to do so. As for his denial, it is that he says: Allah will not create me again as He created me the first time. And as for his abusing Me, it is that he says: Allah has taken a son, while I am the Self-Sufficient (As-Samad), who neither begets nor is begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The intensity of heat is from the effect of the heat of Hell, so perform the prayer when it becomes cooler.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah does not accept the prayer of a person who is overtaken by hadath (minor impurity) until he performs ablution."

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the call for prayer is made, come with calmness and tranquility. Whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty smiles at two men, one of whom killed the other, but both enter Paradise. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how is that?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One man is martyred and enters Paradise, then Allah turns towards the killer, guides him to Islam, and he also fights in the way of Allah and is martyred.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should sell over the sale of his brother, and no man should send a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother.

And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The disbeliever eats with seven intestines, and the believer eats with one intestine."

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The disbeliever eats with seven intestines, and the Muslim eats with one intestine.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding Hazrat Khidr (peace be upon him) that he is called Khidr because when he sat on a white grassy patch, it turned green and started waving beneath him.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not look with mercy at the one who lets his lower garment hang below the ankles.

And the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) explained the command of Allah, "Enter the gate prostrating," by saying that the Children of Israel were told to enter the city dragging themselves on their buttocks and to say, "Hittah" (O Allah, forgive us), but they changed this word and began to say, "Habbah fi sha'rah" (we want grains of barley).

And the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you wakes up at night and the Qur'an does not flow on his tongue, and he does not even know what he is saying (such is the effect of sleep), then he should lie down again.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Allah says that the son of Adam should not say, "Destruction of time," because I am the Creator of time. I am the One who alternates its night and day, and whenever I will, I will draw both of them back to Myself.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How excellent it is for a slave if Allah causes him to die while he is engaged in the best worship of Allah and in obedience to his master.

And the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you stands for prayer, he should not spit in front of him, because as long as he remains on his prayer mat, he continues to converse with Allah. Nor should he spit to his right side, because there is an angel on his right side. Rather, he should spit to his left side or towards his feet, and afterwards, he should mix it into the soil.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the Imam is delivering the Friday sermon and you say to your companion, "Be quiet," then you have engaged in idle talk.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have more right over all Muslims than their own selves according to the Book of Allah. Therefore, whoever among you leaves behind a debt or children, their payment is my responsibility, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heirs, whoever they may be.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you supplicates, he should not say: O Allah, if You will, forgive me; have mercy on me; or provide for me. Rather, he should supplicate with determination and certainty, for there is no one who can compel Allah.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A prophet set out for jihad. He said to his people: No man should go with me who has married a woman but has not yet consummated the marriage and now wishes to do so, or a man who has built a house but has not yet put a roof on it, or a man who has bought goats or pregnant she-camels and is waiting for them to give birth. After saying this, he set out and reached the town (where he was to fight the enemy) at the time of Asr prayer or close to it. He said to the sun: You are also bound by Allah’s command, and I am also bound by Allah’s command. O Allah, hold it back for a while in its place. So the sun remained in its place until Allah granted them victory. They collected the spoils of war. Fire came to burn it, but it did not burn. The prophet of the time said: Someone among you has committed treachery in the spoils of war. Therefore, let one man from each tribe come and pledge allegiance on my hand. All the people pledged allegiance, and the hand of one man stuck to his hand. He said: You have committed treachery in the spoils of war. So they brought out gold equal to the head of a cow and put it in the spoils of war, which was collected on a platform. Fire came and consumed it. Before us, it was not lawful for anyone to use the spoils of war. Allah saw our weakness and helplessness, so He made it lawful for us.
