And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah, I seek from You a promise which You will never break with me, that if I, being human, have caused any harm to a Muslim, or spoken harshly to him, or struck him, or cursed him, then make it for him a source of mercy, purification, and a means of nearness to You on the Day of Resurrection.

After saying this, he set out and reached the town (where he was to fight the enemy) at the time of Asr prayer or close to it. He said to the sun: You are also bound by Allah’s command, and I am also bound by Allah’s command. O Allah, hold it back for a while in its place. So the sun remained in its place until Allah granted them victory. They collected the spoils of war. Fire came to burn it, but it did not burn. The prophet of the time said: Someone among you has committed treachery in the spoils of war. Therefore, let one man from each tribe come and pledge allegiance on my hand. All the people pledged allegiance, and the hand of one man stuck to his hand. He said: You have committed treachery in the spoils of war. So they brought out gold equal to the head of a cow and put it in the spoils of war, which was collected on a platform. Fire came and consumed it. Before us, it was not lawful for anyone to use the spoils of war. Allah saw our weakness and helplessness, so He made it lawful for us.
