Musnad Ahmad

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Once Allah Almighty sent down a shower of golden locusts upon Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) while he was bathing without clothes. Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) began gathering them into his garment. Then a voice called out: "O Ayyub, have We not given you enough of what is sufficient for you?" He replied: "Yes, my Lord, but who can remain indifferent to Your bounty?"

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The recitation was made light and easy for Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him), so he would order the saddle to be fastened on his mount, and before the saddle was fastened, he would have completed the recitation of the Book (Zabur), and he used to eat only from what he earned with his own hand.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The dream of a Muslim is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The younger should greet the elder, the one passing by should greet the one sitting, and the smaller group should greet the larger group.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I will continue to fight against the people until they declare that there is no god but Allah. When they recite this statement, then know that they have protected their lives and wealth from me, except for its due right, and their reckoning is with Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Once Paradise and Hell had a mutual debate. Hell said, "What is my fault that only the tyrants and the arrogant will enter me?" Paradise said, "O Lord, what is my fault that only the poor and those of lesser status will enter me?" Allah said to Paradise, "You are My mercy; I will show mercy through you to whomsoever I wish." And He said to Hell, "You are My punishment; I will punish through you whomsoever I wish. And I will fill both of you." Thus, for Paradise, Allah will create a new creation according to His will. And as people are thrown into Hell, it will keep saying, "Is there any more?" until Allah places His foot in it by His power. At that time, Hell will be filled, its parts will draw together, and it will say, "Enough, enough, enough." And for Paradise, Allah will create a new creation according to His will.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you performs istinja with stones, he should choose an odd number.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says, if My servant intends to do a good deed, I write it as one good deed for him. Then if he acts upon it, I write it increased tenfold. And if he intends to commit a sin, I do not write it. If he commits the sin, I write only one sin.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A place in Paradise equal to the space of a whip is better than the heavens and the earth.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The status of the person with the lowest rank in Paradise will be that it will be said to him, "Express your wishes." He will express his desires, then he will be asked, "Have all your wishes been fulfilled?" He will say, "Yes." Then it will be commanded, "Whatever wishes you have expressed will be granted to you, and an equal amount in addition will also be granted to you."

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If there had been no migration, I would have been one of the Ansar. If people were to walk in one valley and the Ansar in another valley, then I would walk with the Ansar in their valley.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If it were not for the Children of Israel, no person would store meat and food would not spoil, and if it were not for Lady Hawwa (Eve), no woman would betray her husband.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty created Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) in His own image, and his height was kept at sixty cubits. After the creation, He said to him: Go to that group which consists of angels sitting in one place, and greet them with peace, and listen attentively to the reply they give, for that will be the opening words for you and your descendants at the time of mutual meeting. So Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) went there and said, "Peace be upon you." The angels replied, "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah." Thus, they added "and the mercy of Allah." Now, every person who enters Paradise will be in the form and appearance of Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him), and his height will be sixty cubits. However, in the world, after Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him), the height of the creation kept decreasing continuously until it reached the present situation (which we are witnessing).

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Angel of Death was sent to Musa (peace be upon him) to seize his soul, and when he reached him, Musa (peace be upon him) struck him a blow and gouged out his eye. The Angel returned to Allah and said: You have sent me to a servant who does not want to die, and he has gouged out my eye. Allah restored his eye and said: Go back to him and say: If you desire life, then place your hand on the back of an ox; for every hair that your hand covers, you will be granted one year of life. Musa (peace be upon him) asked: O Lord, then what will happen? Allah said: Then death will come. He said: Then let it be now. Then Musa (peace be upon him) requested Allah to bring him close to Bayt al-Maqdis by the distance of a stone’s throw. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I were there, I would show you his grave beneath the red sandhill by the side of the road.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The people of Bani Israel used to bathe naked and would look at each other's private parts, whereas Musa (peace be upon him) used to bathe alone. The people of Bani Israel said: By Allah, the only thing that prevents him from bathing with us is that he has swollen testicles. Once, Musa (peace be upon him) went to bathe, and as usual, took off his clothes and placed them on a stone. That stone ran away with his clothes. Musa (peace be upon him) chased after it, saying, "O stone, my clothes! O stone, my clothes!" until the people of Bani Israel saw the private parts of Musa (peace be upon him), and they said: By Allah, there is no defect in Musa. Thereupon, the stone stopped. Musa (peace be upon him) took his clothes from it and began to strike the stone. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: By Allah, due to the beating of Musa (peace be upon him), there were six or seven marks on that stone.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wealth is not in the abundance of possessions; true wealth is the richness of the heart.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Delaying repayment by a wealthy person is injustice, and when any of you is referred to a wealthy person, he should pursue him.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the most despicable and disliked name in the sight of Allah will be that of a person who calls himself "King of Kings," while in reality, all sovereignty belongs to Allah.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A man was walking in a boastful manner, wearing fine clothes, feeling great pride in himself, when suddenly Allah caused the earth to swallow him up, and he will continue to sink into it until the Day of Resurrection.

And the Prophet said that Allah Almighty says: I decide for My servant according to his expectation of Me.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Every child is born upon pure nature, then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian. Its example is like an animal that is born—do you find any defect in it? Except that you yourselves cut its nose. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the ruling about those children who die in childhood?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Allah knows best what they would have done when they grew up.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the human body there is a bone which the earth never consumes. From it, a person will be reassembled and raised on the Day of Resurrection. The people asked: Which bone is that? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The backbone.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from fasting continuously with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this twice. The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), you fast continuously in this manner." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are not like me in this matter. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself feeds me and gives me drink. Therefore, take upon yourselves only as much as you have the strength to bear."

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not put his hand into a vessel until he has washed it, for he does not know where his hand was during the night.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: There is charity due on every joint of a person, and this is required every day as long as the sun rises. He also said: Reconciling between two people is charity, helping a man to mount his animal or lifting his belongings onto it is charity, a good word is charity, every step you take towards the mosque is charity, and removing something harmful from the road is charity.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that whoever owns goats and does not pay their due zakat, on the Day of Resurrection those goats will be set upon him, trampling his face with their hooves.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the hoarded wealth of the one who hoarded it will become a bald snake. Its owner will flee from it, but it will follow him, saying, "I am your treasure." By Allah, it will keep following him until it stretches out its hand and swallows him in its mouth.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: None of you should urinate in standing water and then use it to perform ablution.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The needy is not the one who is turned away with one or two dates or one or two morsels; rather, the real needy is the one who does not possess enough to suffice himself, and he is ashamed to ask from people, and others do not know of his needs so that they might spend on him.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No woman should observe a voluntary fast while her husband is present at home except with his permission, and no woman should allow anyone to enter her husband's house in his presence except with his permission, and whatever a woman spends from his wealth without his order, half of its reward is given to her husband.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should wish for death, nor should he pray for it before it comes, because when any of you dies, his deeds are cut off, whereas a believer only increases in goodness during his life.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: None of you should call a vineyard “Karam,” for the real “Karam” is the believing man.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: A man bought a piece of land from another man. The buyer found a pot filled with gold in that land. He went to the one from whom he had bought the land and said, "Take your gold, for I bought the land from you, not the gold." The seller replied, "I sold you the land along with everything in it (so the gold belongs to you)." Both of them took their dispute to a third man for a decision. The arbitrator asked, "Do either of you have children?" One said, "I have a son," and the other said, "I have a daughter." The arbitrator said, "Marry the boy to the girl and spend the gold on both of them as charity."

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: If any one of you loses his mount and after some time finds it again, does he not become happy? The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! He said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace be upon him), Allah is even more pleased with the repentance of His servant when he repents than the happiness of someone who finds his lost mount.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah the Exalted has said: Whenever a servant comes near to Me by a handspan, I come near to him by a cubit; if he comes near to Me by a cubit, I come near to him by the length of a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you performs ablution, he should put water into his nostrils and clean them thoroughly.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace be upon him), if the mountain of Uhud were to turn into gold for me, I would be pleased to spend it in the way of Allah, and not three days would pass over me with even a single dinar or dirham remaining with me, except for that which I keep aside to pay a debt that is due upon me.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a servant among you bears the heat, cold, and hardship in preparing food for you, then he should make him sit with him and eat together. If he cannot do so, then he should take a morsel and place it in his hand.

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: None of you should say regarding his master, "Give water to your Lord, feed your Lord, make your Lord perform ablution." Likewise, no one should call his master "my Lord," but rather say "my chief, my master." And none of you should say regarding his slave, "my slave (male), my slave (female)," but rather say "my young man, my young woman, my servant."

And the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The first group to enter Paradise will have faces as bright as the full moon. They will neither urinate nor defecate, nor spit, nor blow their noses. Their combs and utensils will be of gold. The fragrance of musk will emanate from their sweat. Aloeswood will be burning in their incense burners. Their wives will be large-eyed houris, whose shinbones’ marrow will be visible through the flesh due to their beauty. There will be no differences or hatred among them. All their hearts will be like the heart of a single person, and they will glorify Allah morning and evening.
