Hadith 6757
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Among the people, the one who goes furthest in transgressing against Allah is the person who kills in a sacred sanctuary, or kills someone who is not a killer, or kills someone due to enmity from the days of ignorance."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I met the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you the one about whom I have been informed that you say, 'I will stand (in prayer) every night and fast every day'?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! I have said this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray (at night) and also sleep; fast and also leave fasting, and fast three days in every month—you will have the reward of fasting for a lifetime." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have the strength to do more than this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then fast one day and leave fasting for two days." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have the strength to do better than this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then fast one day and leave fasting for one day; this is the most moderate way of fasting, and this is the way of fasting of Sayyiduna Dawood (peace be upon him)." I said, "I have the strength to do even better than this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no fasting better than this."
Hadith 6761
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that once the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, came to know that I said: "I will always fast during the day and stand in prayer at night." Once the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Are you the one who says that you will stand in prayer every night and fast every day?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! I am the one who said this." The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You do not have the strength for this. Therefore, stand in prayer and also sleep, fast and also leave fasting, and fast only three days in every month, for the reward of one good deed is tenfold." Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was a solar eclipse. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up for prayer, so we also stood with him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a very long time, then performed a long bowing (ruku‘), then when he raised his head from ruku‘, he remained standing for a long time. Then in prostration (sajdah), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept blowing on the ground and kept saying: “O Lord, did You not promise me that You would not punish them while I am among them? O Lord, will You punish us even though we seek Your forgiveness?” After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed his prayer and said: “Paradise was presented before me and it was brought so close to me that if I wished to take one of its branches, I could have taken it. Similarly, Hell was also presented before me and it was brought so close to me that I began to blow fearing that it might fall upon you. And I saw in Hell the man who had stolen the two camels of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I also saw a woman from the tribe of Himyar, who was dark-skinned and tall, being punished because of a cat which she had tied up; she neither fed it nor gave it water, nor did she let it go so that it could eat the insects of the earth by itself. Whenever that woman moved forward, the same cat would bite her in Hell, and if she moved back, it would bite her from behind. I also saw there a man from Banu Dada‘, and I saw the man with a stick, who was leaning on his stick in Hell. This person used to steal the belongings of the pilgrims with his stick, and when the pilgrims found out, he would say, ‘I did not steal it, this thing just got stuck to my stick.’ And the sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone’s death or life; rather, they are two signs among the signs of Allah. If either of them is eclipsed, then hasten towards the mosques.”

Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he married a woman from the Quraysh, but due to his strength and enthusiasm for prayer and fasting, he did not pay any attention to her. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to know of this, he said: "Fast three days every month." I said, "I feel I have the strength for more than that." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kept giving me concessions until finally he said: "Then fast one day and leave one day." And he said: "Recite the Qur'an once a month." I said, "I have the strength for more than that." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said fifteen days, then at my request, seven, until finally three days. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Every deed has a period of enthusiasm, and every enthusiasm has an end—either towards the Sunnah or towards innovation. Whoever's end is towards the Sunnah, he is guided, and whoever's end is towards something else, he is destroyed."
Hadith 6765
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking permission to participate in jihad. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him, "Are your parents alive?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet said: "Go and strive in their service."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "In how many days should I complete the recitation of the Qur'an?" Then he mentioned the complete hadith and said: "In seven days, and whoever recites it in less than three days does not understand it." I asked, "How should I fast?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fast three days every month; one fast will be counted as ten days, and for you, the reward of nine days will be written in addition." I said, "I have the strength for more than that." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then fast two days in ten days, and for you, the reward of eight days will be written." This continued until the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached five days.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourself from oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Protect yourself from indecency, for Allah does not like any kind of indecency, whether openly or secretly. Also protect yourself from miserliness, for miserliness destroyed those before you. It was miserliness that led them to sever family ties, so they broke their relations. It was miserliness that commanded them to hoard their wealth and possessions, so they did so. It was miserliness that led them to sin, so they began to commit sins."
During this, a man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which Muslim is the best?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe." Another man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which jihad is the best?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one whose horse's legs are cut and his blood is shed." In the narration from Yazid's chain, there is this addition: Then another man called out and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which migration is the best?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you leave those things which are disliked by your Lord. And migration is of two types: the migration of the city dweller and the migration of the villager. The migration of the villager is that when he is invited, he accepts, and when he is commanded, he obeys. The trial of the city dweller is greater, and his reward is also greater."

Abdur Rahman bin Abd Rabb al-Ka'bah says that once I reached Syedna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was sitting in the shade of the Ka'bah. I heard him saying: Once we were on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) stopped at a place and camped. Some of us pitched tents, some went to the pasture, and some started archery. Suddenly, a caller announced that the prayer was ready. We all gathered at once. When I reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), he was delivering a sermon and saying to the people: O people! All the prophets (peace be upon them) who came before me, whatever they considered good for their nation, they informed their nation of it, and whatever they considered evil, they warned them against it. The well-being of this Ummah has been placed in its first part, and the last people of this Ummah will face severe trials and strange matters. Such tribulations will arise that will make the previous ones seem mild. When a trial comes upon a Muslim, he will say, "This will be the cause of my death," and after some time, that too will pass. Whoever among you wishes to be saved from the fire of Hell and to enter Paradise, let death come to him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day, and let him give to people what he likes to receive himself. And whoever gives allegiance to an Imam, giving him the pledge of his hand and the fruit of his heart, let him obey him as much as possible. The narrator says: I pushed my head among the people and said to Syedna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), "I ask you by Allah, did you hear this from the Prophet (peace be upon him) yourself?" He pointed to his ears with his hand and said: "Both my ears have heard this and my heart has preserved it." The previous hadith is also narrated from this second chain.
