It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led two rak'ahs (units of prayer) on the occasion of a solar eclipse.

By Allah, my heart kept pounding continuously and I kept looking inside and outside equally (fearing that it might be my father), until Al-Hakam entered the mosque (he was the one meant).

I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Learn the Qur'an from four people,' and he mentioned Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) first, then Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), then Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah's freed slave Salim (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrator says: I forgot the fourth name."

I want to go with you for jihad, and my only purpose is to attain Allah’s pleasure and a place in the Hereafter. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Are either of your parents alive? He replied: Yes, both are alive. He said: “Go and treat your parents well.” So he went back to where he had come from.

Sayyiduna Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You should congratulate each other, for I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Ammar will be killed by a rebellious group." Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then what are you doing with us?" He replied: "Once my father complained about me to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Obey your father throughout your life, do not disobey him.' That is why I am with you, but I do not participate in the fighting."

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites the Qur'an in less than three days has not understood it."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that since that time, I have never abandoned this practice. Ibn Kawwa asked, "Not even on the night of the Battle of Siffin?" He replied, "Yes! Not even on the night of the Battle of Siffin did I abandon it."

Yaqub bin Asim says that a man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), "Do you say that the Day of Judgment will be established in this way?" He replied: "I wish you would not narrate anything. I had said that after some time you will see a great incident, a fire breaking out in the House of Allah (the Ka'bah)." Then he said: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The Dajjal will emerge among my Ummah and will remain for forty (the narrator does not remember whether it was days, years, or months). Then Allah, the Exalted, will send Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him), who will resemble Sayyiduna Urwah bin Mas'ud Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him). He will search for him and kill him. After that, people will live for seven years in such a way that there will be no enmity between any two people. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send a cool wind from the direction of Syria, and that wind will seize the soul of every person who has even a mustard seed's weight of faith in his heart. Even if any of them hides in the heart of a mountain, that wind will reach him there as well. After that, only the worst people will remain on the earth, who will be more numerous than birds and animals, who will not recognize good as good and evil as evil. Satan will come to them in human form and say to them, 'Why do you not accept my invitation?' and will command them to worship idols. Thus, they will begin to worship them. During this time, their sustenance will increase greatly and their lives will be passing in the best way, when suddenly the Trumpet will be blown. Whoever hears its sound will bend to one side. The first to hear its sound will be the person who will be repairing the edge of his pond, and he will fall down unconscious. Then everyone will become unconscious. After that, Allah, the Exalted, will send down a heavy rain from the sky, from which people's bodies will grow. Then the Trumpet will be blown again, and people will stand up and will be seeing with their eyes. After that, it will be said, 'O people! Proceed to your Lord,' and when they reach there, they will be stopped and questioned. Then it will be commanded that the army of Hell be taken out from among them. It will be asked, 'How many people?' The command will be, 'Out of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.' That will be the day when children will become old and when the shin will be uncovered."
