(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ ، أن مجاهدا أخبرهما ، أن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى أخبره ، أن عليا رضي الله عنه أخبره ، أن النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ " يَقُومَ عَلَى بُدْنِهِ ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ بُدْنَهُ كُلَّهَا لُحُومَهَا ، وَجُلُودَهَا ، وَجِلَالَهَا ، وَلَا يُعْطِيَ فِي جِزَارَتِهَا مِنْهَا شَيْئًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to be present with him at the time of sacrifice, and that I should distribute the skins and coverings of those camels, as well as distribute the meat, and he also ordered that nothing from them should be given to the butcher as wages.

Nazzal bin Sabrah says that once after the Zuhr prayer, a jug of water was brought to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He was in the courtyard of the mosque. He drank that water while standing and said: Some people consider this disliked, but I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing it just as you have seen me doing it. Then he wiped with the remaining water and said: The person who is not without ablution, but already has ablution, this is the ablution of such a person.

Abu Abdul Malik says that in the Fajr prayer, Abdu Khair (may Allah have mercy on him) used to lead us. One day, we had the opportunity to offer the Fajr prayer behind Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). After completing the prayer and saying salam, when he stood up, we also stood up, until he walked into the courtyard of the mosque and sat down, leaning against the wall. Then he raised his head and said to his servant: Qanbar! Bring a bucket and a basin. Then he said: Pour water. He started pouring water, so first he (Ali) washed his palm three times, then put his right hand into the vessel and took out water, rinsed his mouth, and put water into his nose three times. Then he put both hands in, took out water, and washed his face three times. Then he put his right hand in, took out water, and washed his right hand three times, then washed his left hand three times, and said: This is the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to have a lot of madhi (pre-seminal fluid). Since the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in my marriage, I felt shy to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue myself. So I said to Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue. So he asked about this issue, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Such a person should wash his private part and perform wudu."

Abdu Khair, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I once saw Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, performing ablution. He washed the upper part of his foot and said: If I had not seen the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, washing the upper part of his foot, my opinion would have been that the lower part of the foot is more deserving of being washed (because it touches the ground more).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an army and appointed an Ansari as their commander, and ordered the people to listen to him and obey him. When they set out, that Ansari became angry with them over something along the way. He said, "Gather firewood." Then he had a fire lit in the wood and said, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not order you to listen to me and obey me?" The people said, "Of course." He said, "Then enter this fire." The people began to look at one another and said, "It is from this very fire that we have fled and sought refuge with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." After a short while, his anger subsided and the fire was extinguished. When they returned, they told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the whole incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you had entered it once, you would never have come out of it. Remember! Obedience is only in matters of goodness."

He replied, "There is no harm." He asked, "What if it is lame?" He replied, "If it can walk to the place of sacrifice by itself, then slaughter it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded us to "carefully examine the animal's eyes and ears."

If, after administering its punishment of eighty lashes, someone dies, then I pay his blood money, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not specify any fixed limit for it (whether forty lashes should be given or eighty).

He asked for water for ablution, so a bucket of water and a basin were brought. Then he poured water from the bucket onto his right hand and washed his palm three times. Then he put his right hand into the vessel, took out water, rinsed his mouth, and put water into his nose three times each. Then he washed his face three times, washed both arms three times each, then put his right hand in, took out water, and wiped his head once with both hands. Then he washed both feet three times each and said: "This is the ablution of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, understand it well."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that madhy (pre-seminal fluid) would frequently discharge from my body. I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: "When you see madhy, wash your private part and perform ablution as you do for prayer, and if semen is discharged, then perform ghusl (full ritual bath)."

On one occasion, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We have nothing except the Book of Allah and this scroll. In this scroll, it is also written that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "From 'Ir to Thawr, Madinah Munawwarah is a sanctuary. Whoever introduces an innovation in it or gives refuge to an innovator, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not accept any obligatory or voluntary act of worship from him. And the responsibility of all Muslims is the same; whoever breaks the protection of a Muslim, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people, and none of his obligatory or voluntary acts will be accepted. And if a slave starts calling someone other than his master as his master, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people, and on the Day of Resurrection, none of his obligatory or voluntary acts will be accepted."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I once submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Why do you prefer other families of Quraysh over us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you also have something?" I replied: Yes! The daughter of Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "She is my foster niece." (In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Amir Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) were foster brothers as well as uncle and nephew.)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that regarding what is stated in the Noble Qur’an: «﴿إِنَّمَاأَنْتَمُنْذِرٌوَلِكُلِّقَوْمٍهَادٍ﴾ [الرعد : 7]» "You are only a warner, and for every people there is a guide." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about this verse: "The warner and the guide is a man from Banu Hashim."
