Hadith 1042
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Badr, when the fighting began, we would seek refuge with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was closer to the enemy than any of us, and on that day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fought the fiercest battle.
Hadith 1043
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing a gold ring, silk clothing, or a garment dyed with safflower, and reciting the Noble Qur'an while in the state of bowing (ruku‘).

Glory be to the One Who has subjected this (animal) to us, for we could not have subdued it (by ourselves), and surely to our Lord we are returning.” Then he said “Alhamdulillah” three times and “Allahu Akbar” three times, and then said: “O Allah! You are pure, there is no deity except You. I have wronged myself, so forgive me.” Then he smiled. I asked, “O Commander of the Believers! What made you smile at this moment?” He replied, “I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do as I have done, and he also smiled. I asked him the reason, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘When the servant says, “My Lord, forgive me,” the Lord is pleased and says: My servant knows that none forgives sins except Me.’”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to carefully examine the eyes and ears of the sacrificial animal, and forbade sacrificing an animal whose ear is cut from the front or back, or has a hole in it, or is torn, or whose other body parts are cut.
Hadith 1062
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned to me: "Only a hypocrite can bear hatred towards you, and only a believer can love you."

Hanish Kanani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that in Yemen, a tribe dug a pit and covered it to hunt a lion. The lion fell into it. Suddenly, a man also fell into the pit, then a second, then a third, until four men fell in. (The lion in the pit wounded all of them. Seeing this, a man quickly grabbed a spear and struck the lion, killing it, but all four men also died from their wounds.) The heirs of the deceased drew their weapons and stood facing each other for battle. In the meantime, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and said: "Do you want to kill two hundred men in exchange for four? I will judge between you; if you are satisfied with it, then consider the matter settled. The judgment is that the heirs of the one who fell first and was wounded by the lion should be given a quarter of the blood money, and the fourth should be given the full blood money, the second a third, and the third half of the blood money." The people refused to accept this decision (because they did not understand it). So they went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will judge between you." In the meantime, a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had already judged between us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then enforced that same judgment.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day we were with a funeral in Baqi when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and sat down, and we also sat around him. In his blessed hand was a stick with which he was scratching the ground. After a short while, he raised his head and said: "The abode of every one of you—whether in Paradise or in Hell—is already known and determined by Allah, and it has been written whether he is wretched or blessed." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! Should we not then rely on what has been written for us and give up action? For whoever is among the blessed will attain bliss, and whoever is among the wretched will attain wretchedness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Continue to act, for everyone will find it easy to do the deeds for which he was created." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Qur'an: «﴿فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى ، وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى ، فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى﴾ [الليل : 5-7]» "As for him who gives, fears Allah, and affirms the best (truth), We will indeed ease him towards the path of ease."

Hadith 1071
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that I used to have a lot of madhi (pre-seminal fluid). Since the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was married to me, I felt shy to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue myself. So I asked Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue. Accordingly, he asked about this issue, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Such a person should perform wudu (ablution)."
Hadith 1072
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The key to prayer is purification, the thing that makes lawful things unlawful in prayer is the opening takbeer (takbeer tahrimah), and the thing that makes them lawful again is the (final) salam."
Hadith 1073
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not perform any prayer after the Asr prayer, except if the sun appears clear and bright, then it is permissible."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and hide him in a pit, and do not do any other work before coming to me." So when I had lowered him into a pit and returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said to me: "Go and take a bath, and do not do any other work before coming to me." So I took a bath and presented myself in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me so many supplications that I would not have been as happy to receive red or black camels in exchange. The narrator says that after this, whenever Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a bath to a deceased person, he would also take a bath himself.

Abdullah bin Saba’ says that once I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: “This beard will surely be stained with the blood of this head. That wretched one who will kill me—what is he waiting for?” The people said: “O Commander of the Faithful! Tell us his name and address, we will wipe out his entire lineage.” He replied: “By Allah! In that case, you might kill someone other than my killer.” The people said: “Then at least appoint your deputy over us.” He said: “No, I will leave you in the same state as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left you.” The people said: “Then what answer will you give your Lord when you meet Him (regarding whom you appointed as caliph)?” He replied: “I will say: O Allah! As long as You willed, You kept me among them, then You called me to Yourself, and even then You were present among them. Now, if You wish, keep them united, and if You wish, create division among them.”
