It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large blessed head, a complexion that was white with a reddish tinge, and a thick beard. His joints were very strong, his palms and feet were full, and there was a long line of hair from his chest to his navel. The hair on his head was thick and slightly curly. When he walked, he would take small steps, and it seemed as if he was descending from a slope. He was neither very tall nor very short in stature. I have not seen anyone like him before or after him, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 1123
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to continuously recite the Qur'an to us except when he was in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity).

Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was sitting with my father when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came. He greeted us with salam and entrusted my father with some matter of the people, and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me: "Ask Allah for guidance, and by guidance, take it to mean guidance of the path, and ask Allah for correctness and soundness, and by that, take it to mean the straightness of an arrow." Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from wearing a ring on the index or middle finger. The narrator says that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing, so I could not properly understand the gesture of his fingers. Then he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from red-striped and silk garments. We asked: O Commander of the Faithful! What is meant by "Maisarah" (this word is used in the hadith)? What is this thing? He said: Women used to make something to place on the saddles of their husbands' mounts (which is called a saddlecloth), that is what is meant. Then we asked what is meant by "Qassiyah"? He said: The garments from Syria in which patterns like citron are made. Abu Burdah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when I saw garments made of linen, I understood that these are the ones.
Hadith 1125
Maisarah (may Allah have mercy on him) and Zadhan say that once Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) drank water while standing, and said: If I have drunk water standing, it is because I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do so, and if I have drunk sitting, I have seen him do that as well.
Hadith 1126
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted wiping (over socks/leather socks) for three days and three nights for the traveler, and for one day and one night for the resident.
Hadith 1127
Abu Juhaifa (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) once said: When I narrate to you any hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then to me, falling from the sky is more preferable than falsely attributing something to him, and war is nothing but strategy and deception.
Hadith 1128

Zadhan says that once Syedna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) drank water while standing, and people began to look at him with astonishment. He said: Why are you staring at me? If I have drunk water standing, it is because I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do so, and if I have drunk sitting, I have seen him do that as well.
Hadith 1129
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had excess blood removed from a vein of his blessed body, and he gave wages to the person who performed this task, who is called a hajjam (barber/cupping practitioner).
Hadith 1130
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had excess blood removed from a vein of his blessed body, and he instructed me to give the person who performed this task — who was called a hajjam (barber/cupping specialist) — his wages.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about her two children who had died during the time of ignorance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Both of them are in Hell." Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the unpleasant effect of this on the face of Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), he said: "If you were to see their abode, you would also come to dislike them." She submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Then what about my children who are from you? He said: "They are in Paradise." Then he said: "The believers and their children will be in Paradise, and the polytheists and their children will be in Hell." After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «﴿وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ﴾ [الطور : 21]» "Those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith, We shall join their offspring with them."
Hadith 1132
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting at the edge of the trench when he said: "May Allah fill their houses and graves with fire, for they did not let us perform the Asr prayer until the sun had set."

Abdu Khair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once, after performing the Fajr prayer, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sat near Rahbah. Then he told his servant to bring water for ablution. The servant brought a vessel containing water and a basin. He (Ali) took the vessel in his right hand and began to pour water over his left hand, then washed both palms (then did the same with the right hand). After doing this three times, he put his right hand into the vessel, rinsed his mouth, put water into his nose, and cleaned his nose with his left hand. After doing this three times, he put his right hand into the vessel and washed his face three times. Then he washed his right hand up to and including the elbow three times, then washed his left hand up to and including the elbow three times. Then he dipped his right hand well into the vessel, took it out, and wiped his head once with both hands by rubbing the water that had stuck to his right hand onto his left hand. Then, with his right hand, he poured water three times over his right foot and washed it by rubbing it with his left hand. Then, with his left hand, he poured water three times over his left foot and washed it by rubbing it with his left hand. He did this three times. Then he put his right hand into the vessel, took out a handful of water, drank it, and said: This is the ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Whoever wants to see the way of ablution of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), this is it.
Hadith 1134
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah fill their houses and graves with fire, for they did not let us perform the Asr prayer until the sun had set."

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once, due to the severity of hunger, I left my house. I passed by a woman who had gathered some clay. I understood that she wanted to moisten it with water. I went to her and made an agreement with her that for every bucket I draw, she would give me one date. So I drew sixteen buckets until my hands became tired. Then I went to the water, drank some water, and after that, I went to the woman and stretched out both my hands. She counted out sixteen dates and placed them in my hands. I took those dates and went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him the whole incident. I fed some of the dates to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and ate some myself.
Hadith 1136
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done. After it was finished, he asked the cupper about his wages. He mentioned two sa’ (a measure). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reduced it by one sa’ and ordered me to give him one sa’.
Hadith 1137
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that a maidservant of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) committed the sin of adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to carry out the prescribed punishment on her. I saw that her bleeding would not stop, so I came and mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When her bleeding stops, then carry out the prescribed punishment on her. Remember! Also carry out the prescribed punishments on your male and female slaves."
Hadith 1138
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Marwan bin Hakam that once I was present between Makkah and Madinah with Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with them). Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) used to prohibit Hajj Tamattu', that is, combining Hajj and Umrah in the same journey. Seeing this, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) put on the Ihram for both. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "Are you not aware that I have issued the order prohibiting this, and yet you are still doing it?" He replied, "But I cannot leave the word of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the word of anyone else."
Hadith 1140
Maisarah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I saw that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) drank water while standing. I said to him, "Are you drinking water while standing?" It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that marks had appeared on her hands from grinding flour. During this time, some captives had come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere. When Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) found out, she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a request for a servant, but did not find him. So she informed Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and returned. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) informed him of Sayyidah Fatimah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) visit. So, at night, when we had already lain down on our beds, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came. We wanted to stand up, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Stay in your places.” Saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down with us—so much so that I felt the coolness of his feet—and said: “Shall I not tell you something that is better for you than a servant? When you lie down on your bed, say Subhan Allah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that a black maidservant of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) committed the sin of adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to carry out the prescribed punishment (hadd) on her. I saw that her bleeding would not stop, so I came and mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When her bleeding stops, then carry out the hadd on her. Remember! The prescribed punishments should also be carried out on your male and female slaves."
Hadith 1143
When Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would set out on a journey, he would keep traveling until the sun had set and darkness had fallen. Then he would dismount and perform the Maghrib prayer at its last time, and immediately after that, he would perform the Isha prayer at its earliest time. He would say that he had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do the same.
