Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar, and Hazrat Uthman performed Hajj Tamattu', and Hazrat Muawiyah was the first to prohibit it.

Hazrat Ka'b states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will be the first to grasp the ring of the gate of Paradise, and it will be opened for him.

Hazrat Ibn Masood says that Surah Bani Israeel, Surah Kahf, Surah Maryam, Surah Taha, and Surah Anbiya are among the earliest surahs revealed in Makkah, and I was the first to learn these surahs.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far says that in the earlier scriptures it is written about Hazrat Abu Bakr that his example is like rain; wherever it falls, it brings benefit.

Hasan narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: My grave will be opened first and I will be the first intercessor.

Hazrat Amr bin Ba’jah says that the very first humiliation to enter among the Arabs was the martyrdom of Hazrat Husain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and the claim of Ziyad.

Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah narrates that the first person to shoot an arrow in the path of Allah was Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas.

A man from the tribe of Thaqif narrates that a person from Banu Thaqif consulted Hazrat Umar about spreading grass in the mosque. He said, "O Commander of the Faithful, this is a more comfortable thing, and it hides spit and filth, etc." Hazrat Umar replied, "Spread the grass of the blessed valley, that is, the valley of Aqeeq, in the mosque." Thus, Hazrat Umar was the first to spread grass in the mosque.

Ibrahim says that it was Mukhtar who first started the recitation behind the Imam. The predecessors did not use to recite behind the Imam.

Hazrat Hakam states that among the annual stipends for war, Hazrat Umar was the first to give ten camels each as blood money.

Hazrat Abu Najeeh and Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Bakr state that at the time of execution, Hazrat Khubaib bin Adi was the first to perform prayer.

Hazrat Sa’sa’ah says that the first person to compile the Qur’an and to make the Kalalah an heir was Hazrat Abu Bakr.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Judgment, the first account to be settled will be that of blood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbil that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Resurrection, the first account to be settled will be that of blood.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a secret strategy against the polytheists on the day of Uhud, and this was his first secret strategy.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that the first to be destroyed among the Arabs were the Quraysh and Rabi'ah. Quraysh were destroyed by kingship, and Rabi'ah were destroyed by pride.

Hazrat Mak'hool says that the region of Armenia will be deserted first, then Egypt.

Hazrat Mujahid, regarding the verse { سِدْرَۃِ الْمُنْتَہَی } of the Holy Quran, says that this is the first day of the Hereafter and the last day of the world.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Ibn Kawa: "Do you know what was the first thing the people of old said regarding wisdom? It was this: Maintain moderation in friendship with your friend, for it is possible that one day he may become your enemy; and maintain moderation in enmity with your enemy, for it is possible that one day he may become your friend."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The first person to alter my Sunnah will be a man from Banu Umayyah.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the incident of the beginning of Hazrat Umar’s acceptance of Islam was as follows: He says that one night my sister was in labor, so I was sent out of the house. On a dark night, I entered the curtains of the Kaaba. Meanwhile, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and entered inside with his shoes and prayed as much as Allah willed. Then I heard a voice that I had never heard before. I started following that voice. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Who is it?” I said, “It is Umar.” He said, “O Umar! What is the matter that you do not leave us alone, neither by day nor by night?” I feared that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might pray against me. Therefore, I said, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and you are the Messenger of Allah.” He said, “O Umar, keep this matter secret.” I said, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, just as I proclaimed shirk, I will also proclaim faith.”

Hazrat Muhariz bin Salih narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was the first to separate witnesses from each other.

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Ruwaym that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: My Lord first forbade me from these things: worshipping idols, drinking alcohol, and men abusing each other.

Hazrat Zuhri narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a Bedouin and said to him: "It is obligatory upon you to uphold the first agreement, because profit is with generosity."

Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Utbah narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said to me, "Do you know which was the last complete Surah to be revealed?" I said, "Yes, Surah An-Nasr was the last to be revealed." He said, "You have spoken correctly."

Hazrat Qabeesah bin Dhuwaib narrates that Hazrat Abu Salamah was the son of the paternal aunt of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He was the first person who left his homeland and migrated first to Abyssinia and then to Madinah.

Hazrat Bara’ says that the very last verse to be revealed in the Holy Qur’an was { یَسْتَفْتُونَک قُلَ اللَّہُ یُفْتِیکُمْ فِی الْکَلاَلَۃِ }

Hazrat Suddi says that the last verse to be revealed in the Holy Qur’an was: { وَاتَّقُوا یَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِیہِ إِلَی اللہِ }.

Hazrat Atiyyah Awfi says that the last verse to be revealed in the Holy Qur'an: { وَاتَّقُوا یَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِیہِ إِلَی اللہِ }.

Hazrat Maisarah Abu Jameelah says that the Khawarij spoke for the first time on the day of the Battle of Jamal.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin states that the first person to boil gold to the extent that two-thirds of it evaporated and one-third remained was Hazrat Umar bin Khattab.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that the very first written phrase by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was "Bismikallahumma." Then, when the verse of the Holy Qur'an { بِسْمِ اللہِ مَجْرَاہَا وَمُرْسَاہَا } was revealed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wrote "Bismillah." Then, when the verse of the Holy Qur'an {إِنَّہُ مِنْ سُلَیْمَانَ وَإِنَّہُ بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمَن الرَّحِیمِ } was revealed, he wrote the complete "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem."

An elder of Madinah says that Hazrat Muawiyah said, "I am the first king."

Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that Hazrat Muawiyah was the first to deliver the sermon while sitting. Then, apologizing to the people, he said that he was doing so because of pain in his foot.
