If the one who did zihar is acquitted, does he still have to pay expiation?

Hazrat Tawoos narrates from his father that the one who performs zihar will give the expiation even if he is is absolved.

Hazrat Ata says that when the one who performs zihar is absolved, he will not give expiation; the same is narrated from Hazrat Dhahhak.
