Those Who Say There Are No Prostrations in the Mufassal and Did Not Prostrate in Them

Hazrat Umar says that there is no prostration of recitation (Sajdah Tilawat) in the Mufassal (surahs).

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit narrates that I recited Surah An-Najm before the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he did not perform sajdah (prostration).

Hazrat Ata bin Yasar says that I asked Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b whether there are prostrations (sajdahs) in the Mufassal (surahs). He replied, "No."
