Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 4749 — Those who lightened the prayer
٤٧٤٩ - حدثنا هشيم قال أخبرنا (١) حميد عن أنس أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ قال: "إِنِّي لأَكُونُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَأَسْمَعُ صَوْتَ الصَّبِيِّ يَبْكي (فَأَتَجَوَّزُ) (٢) فِي صَلَاتِي مَخَافَةَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمِّه" (٣).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sometimes I am in the prayer and I hear the sound of a child crying, so I shorten the prayer for fear of causing hardship to his mother."
