حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَا: ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ابْنُ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ: " قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ، فَقَالَ: ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ أَوْ تَعْدِلُهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about "Say: He is Allah, the One," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is one third of the Qur'an, or it is equal to it."
حَدَّثَنَا إِدْرِيسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ الْعَطَّارُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَيَقُولُ خَيْرًا، أَوْ يَنْمِي خَيْرًا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not a liar who makes peace between people, saying something good or conveying something good."
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ خَيْرًا، أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she was among the first women who emigrated; she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "He is not a liar who makes peace between people, saying something good or conveying something good."

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، ثنا سَلَامَةُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ، عَنْ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أُمِّهَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ، وَكَانَتْ مِنْ صَوَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَذَّابِ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا، أَوْ يَقُولُ خَيْرًا»
Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was one of the female Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and one of the first women who emigrated and pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people, conveying something good or saying something good."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَا: ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ، بِأَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ فِي إِصْلَاحِ، مَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The liar is not the one who says something to make peace between people."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ، وَكَانَتْ أُخْتَ عُثْمَانَ لِأُمِّهِ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، مَنْ قَالَ خَيْرًا، أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt (may Allah be pleased with her), and she was the maternal sister of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him); she said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people, the one who says something good or conveys something good."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَسُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَا: أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ أُمِّهَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَيَقُولُ خَيْرًا أَوْ يَنْمِي خَيْرًا»

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، أَنَّ ابْنَ الْهَادِ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ، قَالَتْ: مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرَخِّصُ فِي الْكَذِبِ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَعُدُّهُ كَذِبًا: «الرَّجُلُ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ يَزِيدُ فِي الْقَوْلِ يُرِيدُ بِهِ الْإِصْلَاحَ، وَالرَّجُلُ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرْبِ، وَالرَّجُلُ يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ تُحَدِّثُ زَوْجَهَا»
Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permit lying in any matter except in three situations, which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not count as lying: "A man who makes peace between people and adds something to what he says, intending reconciliation by it; a man who speaks in war; and a man who speaks to his wife, and a wife who speaks to her husband."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ صِرْمَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، قَالَتْ: مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرَخِّصُ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: لَا أَعُدُّهُ كَذِبًا: «الرَّجُلُ يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، وَالرَّجُلُ يَقُولُ فِي الْحَرْبِ، وَالرَّجُلُ يُحَدِّثُ امْرَأَتَهُ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ تُحَدِّثُ زَوْجَهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: I never heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permit lying except in three situations; he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: I do not count it as lying: "A man who makes peace between people; a man who speaks in war; and a man who speaks to his wife, and a wife who speaks to her husband."

Humayd bin Abd al-Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) related that his mother, Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her), told him that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people, conveying something good or saying something good."
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ تَوْبَةَ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا، أَوْ يَقُولُ خَيْرًا»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people, conveying something good or saying something good."
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الصَّوَّافُ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ، ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ النُّمَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ، الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between two people."
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ، ثنا عَمِّي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ، وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَكَانَتْ صَلَّتِ الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ خَيْرًا، أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا»
Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the wife of Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) and who had prayed towards both qiblahs with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people, saying something good or conveying something good."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most excellent charity is that given to a relative who harbours rancour in his heart."
