Umaynah said: I said to Amatullah bint Ruzaynah: Did you hear your mother mention anything about the fast of Ashura? She said: Yes, I heard my mother, Sayyidah Ruzaynah (may Allah be pleased with her), say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to hold that day (Ashura) in great reverence, to the extent that on that day he would call for his own children and the nursing infants of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), put his saliva into their mouths, and say to their mothers: "Do not nurse them until nightfall." And his saliva would suffice them.

Sayyidah Ruzaynah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: On the day of Qurayzah and Nadir, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) brought Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) with her arm in his hand. When she saw the captives, she said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah. "So he let go of her arm, freed her, proposed marriage to her, married her, and gave her Ruzaynah as her dowry."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Ruzaynah (may Allah be pleased with her), the freed slave-woman of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) came one day to visit the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her) came in to them, wearing one of the Yemeni shifts and a head-covering, and on the corner of her eye were two dots like lentils, made of aloe and saffron. Alilah said: I have seen women adorning themselves with it for their husbands. Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will come in to us and we will look dull while this one shines among us; I will certainly spoil her adornment today. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Hafsah! Fear Allah. Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was somewhat hard of hearing, asked: What are you saying? She was told: The one-eyed one (the Dajjal) has come out. She said: The one-eyed one has come out? She was told: Yes. She said: Then where shall I hide? She was told: Go into the tent (this was a tent of theirs made of palm branches in which they cooked in pots, and there were cobwebs in it). So she went and entered it. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came in while the two of them were laughing and, because of their laughter, could not speak to him. He said: "What is this laughter about?" The two of them pointed with their hands towards the tent. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the tent and found Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her) trembling. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "What is the matter with you?" She said: O Messenger of Allah, the one-eyed one (the Dajjal) has come out. He said: "He has not come out, but he will certainly come out." Then he went in, took her by the hand, and began brushing the dust and the cobwebs off her.
