Muhammad bin Ali al-Madini, known as Fustuqah, said: Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with her) died in the year 73 AH, a few nights after the death of her son Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him). She was the paternal half-sister of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The mother of Asma bint Abi Bakr was Qutaylah bint Abd al-Uzza bin Abd As'ad, of Banu Malik bin Hisl. When Asma died she was one hundred years old. She was born twenty-seven years before the Hijri calendar and seventeen years before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, and when Asma was born, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was twenty-one years old.
