حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُعْتَكِفًا فَأَتَيْتُهُ لَيْلًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ، ثُمَّ قُمْتُ فَقَامَ مَعِي لِيَقْلِبَنِي، وَكَانَ مَسْكَنُهَا فِي دَارِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَمَرَّ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْرَعَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا إِنَّهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ» فَقَالَا: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنِ ابْنِ آدَمَ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ، وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُقْذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا» أَوْ قَالَ: «شَرًّا»
Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in i'tikaf (spiritual retreat), so I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) at night in the mosque and talked with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then I stood up, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) also stood up with me in order to accompany me back, and her dwelling was in the house of Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him). Two Companions from the Ansar passed by, and when they saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they walked on quickly. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wait, this is Safiyyah bint Huyayy." They said: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), O Messenger of Allah! So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan flows in the son of Adam like blood, and I feared that he might cast some whispering into your hearts," or he said: "something evil."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: جِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَحَدَّثُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ عَاكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَامَ مَعِي لَيْلَةً مِنَ اللَّيَالِي لَيُبْلِغُنِي بَيْتِي، فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيَاهُ اسْتَحْيَيَا فَرَجَعَا، فَقَالَ: «تَعَالا، إِنَّمَا هِيَ صَفِيَّةُ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» فَقَالَا مَعَاذَ اللهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: «مَا أَقُولُ لَكُمَا أَنْ تَكُونَ تَظُنَّانِ شَرًّا، وَلَكِنِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ»
Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and was talking with him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in i'tikaf in the mosque. One night he (peace and blessings be upon him) walked with me to take me to my house. On the way he met two Companions from the Ansar, and when they saw him (peace and blessings be upon him), they turned back out of shyness. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come, this is only Safiyyah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." They said: Ma'adh Allah (Allah forbid), Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)! So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not say that you two were thinking anything evil, but I know that Satan flows in a human being like blood."
حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُسَافِرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزُورُهُ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْعَوَابِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، فَتَحَدَّثَتْ عِنْدَهُ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تَنْقَلِبُ، وَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَقَلُّبَهَا حَتَّى إِذَا طَلَعَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ عِنْدَ بَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَسَلَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ نَفَذَا، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا مَا هِيَ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ» قَالَا: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَكَبُرَ عَلَيْهِمَا مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَبْلُغُ مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ مَبْلَغَ الدَّمِ، وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُقْذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا»
Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates that she came to visit the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the last ten days of Ramadan while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in i'tikaf in the mosque. She talked with him (peace and blessings be upon him) for a while, then stood up to go back, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also stood up with her to see her off. When they reached near the door of the mosque, by the door of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), two Companions from the Ansar passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They greeted the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam and went on. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "Wait, this is Safiyyah bint Huyayy." They said: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), O Messenger of Allah! And these words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) weighed heavily upon them. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan flows in a human being like blood, and I feared that he might cast some whispering into your hearts."
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعُمَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، ثنا أَخِي، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزُورُهُ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثِ،
It is narrated from Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she came to visit the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in i'tikaf in the mosque. Then the narrator narrated the rest of the hadith in full.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَابِرِ بْنِ الْبُحْتُرِيُّ الطَّائِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ، زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the narrator narrated the hadith.
