حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، قَالَتْ: «لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِعَامٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ جَالِسًا، وَيُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا»
Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray sitting, until one or two years before his (peace and blessings be upon him) death, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) began to pray voluntary prayer sitting; and he would recite a surah so slowly and deliberately that his (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation became longer than that of a surah longer than it.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، ثنا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ، ثنا جُوَيْرِيَةُ بْنُ أَسْمَاءَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ، قَالَتْ: «مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا قَطُّ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِعَامٍ، فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ قَاعِدًا وَيَقْرَأُ بِالسُّورَةِ فَيُرَتِّلُهَا حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا»
Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray sitting, until one year before his (peace and blessings be upon him) death, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) began to pray voluntary prayer sitting; and he would recite a surah so slowly and deliberately that it became longer than a surah longer than it.
حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْفَوْزِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا جَدِّي خَطَّابُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، قَالَتْ: «مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ بِعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَيُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ قِرَاءَتُهَا إِيَّاهَا أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا»

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: «لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُتَوَفَّى بِعَامٍ أَوْ عَامَيْنِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فِي سُبْحَتِهِ، وَيُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِي قِرَاءَتِهِ إِيَّاهَا أَطْوَلَ مِنْ قِرَاءَتِهِ قَائِمًا»
Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), says: I did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sitting in voluntary prayer, until one or two years before his (peace and blessings be upon him) death, when I saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) praying voluntary prayer sitting; he (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite a surah so slowly and deliberately that its recitation became longer than his (peace and blessings be upon him) recitation while standing.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي السَّائِبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ، أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ - زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَتْ: «لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ حَتَّى كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَوَفَّاهُ اللهُ بِعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي فِي سُبْحَتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ يُرَتِّلُ السُّورَةَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهَا» .

حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْبَدٍ حَفْصُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her).
