حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ نَاشِرَةَ بْنِ سُمَيٍّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، يَوْمَ الْجَابِيَةِ، يَقُولُ: " إِنِّي قَدْ نَزَعْتُ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ وَأَمَّرْتُ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ، فَقَامُ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنِ حَفْصِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، فَقَالَ: «وَاللهِ لَقَدْ نَزَعْتَ عَامِلًا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَغْمَدْتَ سَيْفًا سَلْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَوَضَعْتَ لِوَاءً عَقَدَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
It is narrated from Nashirah bin Sumayy (may Allah have mercy on him) that he heard Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say on the day of al-Jabiyah: I have removed Khalid bin al-Walid and appointed Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah as commander. At that Abu Amr bin Hafs bin al-Mughirah stood up and said: By Allah, you have removed an official whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed, sheathed a sword which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew, and lowered a banner which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) tied.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ الْقَاضِي، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْحَضْرَمِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ اللَّخْمِيِّ، عَنْ نَاشِرَةَ بْنِ سُمَيٍّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ: «إِنِّي أَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ إِنِّي أَمَّرْتُهُ عَلَى أَنْ يَحْبِسَ هَذَا الْمَالَ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَأَعْطَاهُ ذَا الْبَأْسِ وَذَا اللِّسَانِ وَذَا الشُّرَفِ وَإِنِّي قَدْ نَزَعْتَهُ وَأَثْبَتُّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ» ، فَقَالَ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ حَفْصٍ: «وَاللهِ مَا عَدَلْتَ، نَزَعْتَ عَامِلًا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَغَمَدْتَ سَيْفًا سَلْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَوَضَعْتَ لِوَاءً نَصَبَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَحَسَدْتَ ابْنَ الْعَمِّ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: «إِنَّكَ قَرِيبُ الْقَرَابَةِ، حَدِيثُ السِّنِّ»
Nashirah bin Sumayy (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say on Friday: I offer you my apology regarding Khalid bin al-Walid. I appointed him on the condition that he hold back this wealth for the charity of the Muhajirun, but he gave it to the powerful, the eloquent and the nobles. I have removed him and appointed Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah. At that Abu Amr bin Hafs said: By Allah, you have not acted justly. You have removed an official whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed, sheathed a sword which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew, and lowered a banner which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set up, and you have envied your cousin. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You are a close relative and young in age.
