حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا قَطَنُ بْنُ نَسِيرٍ الدَّارِعُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْبَيْسَرِيُّ، أَنَا أَبُو مَالِكٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «جَالِسِ الْعُلَمَاءَ، وَسَائِلِ الْكُبَرَاءَ، وَخَالِطِ الْحُكَمَاءَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sit in the company of the scholars, ask the elders, and mix with the wise."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا طَلْقُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «جَالِسُوا الْكُبَرَاءَ، وَسَائِلُوا الْعُلَمَاءَ، وَخَالِطُوا الْحُكَمَاءَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sit in the company of the elders, ask the scholars, and mix with the wise."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا قَبِيصَةُ، ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبْجَرَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ: لَقِيَنِي أَبُو جُحَيْفَةَ فَقَالَ: يَا سَلَمَةُ، «مَا بَقِيَ شَيْءٌ مِمَّا كُنْتُ أَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ، وَمَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ تَسُرُّنِي أَنْ تَقِيَنِي الْمَوْتَ، وَلَا نَفْسُ ذُبَابٍ»
Salamah bin Kuhayl (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) met me and said: O Salamah, nothing remains of what I used to recognise except this prayer, and there is no soul whose shielding me from death would please me, even if it were the soul of a fly.
