حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْعَسَّالُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيُّ، ثنا حَبَّانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «بُعِثْتُ فِي نَفْسِ السَّاعَةِ، فَسَبَقْتُهَا كَمَا تَسْبِقُ هَذِهِ» وَأَشَارَ بِِإِصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى
Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I have been sent right alongside the Hour, but I went ahead of it the way this finger goes ahead of this other one," and he pointed with his index finger and middle finger.
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا طَاهِرُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ نِزَارٍ، ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ خُنَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا أَخَذَتِ الدُّنْيَا مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَخَذَ مِخْيَطٌ غُرِسَ فِي الْبَحْرِ مِنْ مَائِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This world has taken from the Hereafter only as much as a needle takes of the water of the sea when it is dipped into it."
