عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ
Ata' bin Abi Rabah narrates from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: «أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا آتِيَ أَهْلِي فِي غُرَّةِ الْهِلَالِ، وَأَنْ لَا أَتَوَضَّأَ فِي طُهْرَةِ النَّحَّاسِ، وَأَنْ أَسْتَنَّ كُلَّمَا قُمْتُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me not to go to my wife on the first night of the new moon, not to perform ablution with water from a copper vessel, and to use the tooth-stick (miswak) whenever I rise from my sleep."
