حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى مُعَاوِيَةَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَفِي يَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنَ الشَّعْرِ، قَالَ: فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ؟، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا، وَقَالَ: «إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ هَذِهِ نِسَاؤُهُمْ»
Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) that he saw Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit with a lock of hair in his hand. He said: I heard him say: "O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid something like this, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The Children of Israel were punished only when their women adopted this.'"
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَفِي يَدَهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ يَقُولُ: شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا، وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ هَذِهِ»
Imam Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), who had a lock of hair in his hand, saying: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid something like this, and I heard him say: 'The Children of Israel were punished only when their women adopted this.'"
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَنَا مَالِكٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَامَ حَجَّ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَتَنَاوَلَ قُصَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ كَانَتْ فِي يَدِ حَرَسِيٍّ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ؟، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا» هَلَكَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ هَذِهِ نِسَاؤُهُمْ «،» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ "
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, through Imam Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), from Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) on the pulpit in the year he performed Hajj. He took a lock of hair that was in the hand of a guard and was saying: "O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid something like this, and I heard him say: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.'" These are the words of al-Qa'nabi's narration.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ التِّنِّيسِيُّ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَبِيَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَهَا نِسَاؤُهُمْ»
Imam al-Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) told me that Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) told him that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), who had a lock of hair in his hand, saying: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid something like this, and I heard him say: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.'"
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ يَقُولُ: أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ؟، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ الْقُصَّةِ، يَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَهَا نِسَاؤُهُمْ»
Imam Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) told me that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit in Madinah, saying: "O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid a lock like this, saying: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.'"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زُغْبَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ، أَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَفِي يَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعْرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ مِثْلَ هَذِهِ نِسَاؤُهُمْ»

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، ثنا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، مَعَ رَجُلٍ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ هَذِهِ نِسَاؤُهُمْ»
Abdul Rahman bin Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, through Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), from Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) that he heard Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) with a man, saying: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid something like this, and I heard him say: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.'"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ؟، وَأَخْرَجَ كُبَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ مِنْ كُمِّهِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ هَذَا، وَقَالَ: «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ نِسَاؤُهُمْ مِثْلَ هَذَا»
Imam Sufyan bin Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, through Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), from Humayd bin Abdul Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah and said: "Where are your scholars?" He took out a bundle of hair from his sleeve and said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbid this, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted something like this.'"
