حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ عُثْمَانَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ قَائِمًا، وَشَهِدْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا، فَقَالَ: «أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَجْهَلِ السُّنَّةَ، وَلَكِنِّي كَبِرَتْ سِنِّي وَرَقَّ عَظْمِي وَكَثُرَتْ حَوَائِجُكُمْ، فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ بَعْضَ حَوَائِجِكُمْ وَأَنَا قَاعِدٌ ثُمَّ أَقُومَ فَآخُذَ نَصِيبِي مِنَ السُّنَّةِ»
Maysarah bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Musa bin Talhah (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: I saw Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering the sermon standing on the pulpit, and I saw Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering the sermon sitting. He said: "Listen! I am not ignorant of the Sunnah, but I have grown old, my bones have become frail, and your needs have increased. So I wished to fulfil some of your needs while sitting, and then stand and take my share of the Sunnah."
حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْبُخَارِيُّ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجْتُ دَعَانِي، فَقَالَ: اصغِ عِنْدِي حَدِيثٌ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «طَلْحَةُ مِمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ»
Ishaq bin Yahya bin Talhah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Musa bin Talhah (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: I went in to Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him). When I left, he called me and said: "Listen, O my nephew! There is a hadith that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Talhah is among those who have fulfilled their vow.'"
