Sayyiduna Ghalib bin Abjar al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) related: I mentioned the tribe of Qays in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on Qays, may Allah have mercy on Qays." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, you are praying for mercy for Qays?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, they were upon the religion of my forefather Isma'il bin Ibrahim, the Friend of Allah (peace be upon them both). O Qays, greet Yemen; O Yemen, greet Qays. Indeed Qays are the horsemen of Allah on earth. By the One in whose hand is my soul, a time will come upon people when this religion will have no helper except Qays. Indeed Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has marked horsemen from among the inhabitants of the heavens, and trained horsemen from among the inhabitants of the earth; and the horsemen of Allah from among the inhabitants of the earth are Qays. Qays is but an egg that has hatched from us, the People of the House. Indeed Qays are the hunting beasts of Allah on earth", meaning the lion of Allah.
