It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) (the father of Abdullah) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Hawazin with twelve thousand (men), and on the day of Hunayn as many of us from the people of Ta'if were killed as had been killed of Quraysh on the day of Badr. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a handful of pebbles and threw it towards our faces, and we were defeated.

Sayyiduna Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) (the father of Abdullah) said: I saw that a skin of honey was presented as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it, and (the one who gave the gift) said: Make my mountain pass a protected (pasture) for me.
