حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ قَالَ: «حَاتِمُ طَيِّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ الْحَشْرَجِ بْنِ امْرِئِ الْقَيْسِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ أَخْرَمَ»
Abu Ubayd al-Qasim bin Sallam said: Hatim al-Ta'i was the son of Abdullah bin Sa'd bin al-Hashraj bin Imru' al-Qays bin Adi bin Akhzam.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْيَزِيدِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَاقِدِيِّ قَالَ: «تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَدِيُّ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ عَلَى صَدَقَاتِ قَوْمِهِ - يَعْنِي عَامِلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Muhammad bin Sa'd narrates on the authority of al-Waqidi: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away while Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) was in charge of the charities (sadaqat) of his people, that is, he was the agent (collector) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
