حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْيَزِيدِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَاقِدِيِّ قَالَ: «تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَدِيُّ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ عَلَى صَدَقَاتِ قَوْمِهِ - يَعْنِي عَامِلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Muhammad bin Sa'd narrates on the authority of al-Waqidi: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away while Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) was in charge of the charities (sadaqat) of his people, that is, he was the agent (collector) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
