It is narrated from Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) that a Bedouin said to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), pointing towards Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him): These people give water and honey to drink, and the family of so-and-so give milk to drink, while you people give nabidh to drink. Is this because of miserliness on your part or because of some need? He said: We have neither miserliness nor any need; rather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us with Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) riding behind him (peace and blessings be upon him), and we gave him (peace and blessings be upon him) this nabidh to drink. He (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and said: "Do it like this."

Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani narrates from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to perform Hajj, so a woman said to her husband: Take me for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I do not have a mount on which I could take you for Hajj. She said: Take me for Hajj on your such-and-such camel. He said: That is endowed in the path of Allah. She said: Then take me for Hajj on your water-carrying camel. He said: We both use that one in turns for our work. She said: Then sell your fruit. He said: That is my provision and yours. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Hajj, the woman sent her husband to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Convey to him my greetings of peace and the mercy of Allah, and ask him what equals the reward of Hajj with you. So he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, my wife conveys to you greetings of peace and the mercy of Allah. She had asked me to take her for Hajj with you, and I said: I do not have a mount on which I could take you for Hajj. She said: Take me for Hajj on your such-and-such camel. I said: That is endowed in the path of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen, had you taken her for Hajj on it, that too would have counted as being in the path of Allah." He said: She then said: Take me for Hajj on your water-carrying camel. I said: We both use that one in turns. She said: Then sell your fruit. I said: That is my provision and yours. At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled at her eagerness for Hajj. Then he said: She instructed me to ask you what is equal to a Hajj with you. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Convey to her my greetings of peace and the mercy of Allah, and tell her that an Umrah in Ramadan is equal to performing a Hajj with me."
