It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had al-Ajlani and his wife undergo li'an (mutual imprecation), and the woman was pregnant. The woman's husband said: By Allah, I have not gone near her since we did the 'afr of the palm trees ('afr means watering the palm trees once after they have been left unwatered from the wells for two months). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make the truth clear." And it is said that the woman's husband had thin shins and forearms and reddish hair, while the man to whom she was attributed was Ibn al-Sahma'. (The narrator) said: Then the woman gave birth to a boy who was black, broad-foreheaded, with curly hair, thick forearms and stout shins.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: No, rather that was another woman who had openly committed indecency in Islam.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I have had no relations with my wife since the 'ifar of the palm trees (and their 'ifar was that they would be pollinated, and then after the pollination they would not be watered for forty days); then I found a man with my wife. (And the woman's husband was of yellowish complexion, thin-bodied and straight-haired, while the man to whom she was attributed was thick-limbed, blackish, curly-haired and large-buttocked.) So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make the truth clear; O Allah, make the truth clear." Then he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) had the two of them undergo li'an, and the woman gave birth to a child who resembled the man to whom she had been attributed.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the couples who undertake li'an (mutual imprecation) were mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Asim said something about it and then left. Then a man from his people came to him and told him that he had found a man with his wife. Asim said: I have been put to this trial only because of my (own) words. So he took him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he told him ((peace and blessings be upon him)) of the state in which he had found his wife. That man (the woman's husband) was of yellowish complexion, lean and straight-haired, while the man whom he claimed to have found with his wife was of reddish complexion and heavily built. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make the truth clear." Then the woman gave birth to a child resembling the man whom her husband had mentioned finding with her, and so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had the two of them undergo li'an. A man in the gathering asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): Is she the woman about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to stone a woman without evidence, I would have stoned her"? Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: No, that was another woman who used to commit indecency openly in Islam.
