Sayyiduna Safwan bin al-Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on one of his journeys. He (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Isha, then slept, until when it was midnight he got up and recited the last verses of Surah Al Imran to the end. Then he performed ablution and used the tooth-stick (miswak), then prayed two rak'ahs. I do not know whether his (peace and blessings be upon him) standing, his bowing or his prostration was longer. Then he said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) woke up and recited the same verses again, then used the tooth-stick and performed ablution, then did as before, then prayed as much as he had prayed the first time. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) continued in this way, praying two rak'ahs at a time, sleeping, then waking up, as he had done the first time, until he had prayed eleven rak'ahs.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Safwan bin al-Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the sun rises, Satan accompanies it; when it climbs high, Satan parts from it. Then when it nears its zenith, Satan accompanies it, and when it passes the zenith, he parts from it. When it nears setting, Satan accompanies it, and when it sets, he parts from it." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade praying at those times.

Sayyiduna Safwan bin al-Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We set out for Hajj. When we reached al-Arj, we saw a snake writhing, and after a short while it died. One of us took out a piece of his cloth, wrapped it in it, and dug a hole in the ground for it. Then we reached Makkah. We were in the Sacred Mosque when a person came and stood before us and said: "Which of you is the companion of Amr bin Jabir?" We said: "We do not know him." He said: "Which of you is the companion of the jinn?" The people said: "This one." He said: "Indeed, he was the last of the nine believing jinn who came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to listen to the Qur'an."
