It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever regards as lawful what the Qur'an has made unlawful has not believed in the Qur'an."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been shown the place of your emigration: a land of salty soil between the two edges of a stony tract (harrah). It will be either Hajar or Yathrib." He said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for Madinah, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with him (peace and blessings be upon him). I too had intended to set out with him (peace and blessings be upon him), but some young men of Quraysh stopped me. So that night I kept standing up and did not sit down, and they said: Allah has kept him busy away from you with his stomach trouble, though I was not ill. Then they fell asleep and I left. After I had gone some distance, some of them caught up with me, wanting to take me back. I said to them: Would you like me to give you some uqiyahs of gold and a siyara' (striped silk garment) of mine in Makkah, and you let me go on my way and give me your assurance for that? They did so. So I went back with them to Makkah and said: Dig beneath the threshold of the door, for beneath it are the uqiyahs; and go to such-and-such a woman with such-and-such a sign and take the two pieces of jewellery. Then I left until I reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at Quba', before he moved on from there. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me, he said: "O Abu Yahya, the trade has been profitable!" He said it three times. I said: O Messenger of Allah, no one reached you before me to tell you; it can only have been Jibril (peace be upon him) who informed you.
