Sayyiduna Shurahbil (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a tall, fair-skinned Bedouin came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! There is an old man who has a raging fever that will make him visit the graves. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An old man who has a raging fever; it is an expiation and a purification for him." The man repeated his words, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also repeated his, three or four times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Since you refuse, then it is as you say, and whatever Allah has decreed will come to pass." The narrator said: By the evening of the next day he had died.

Abd al-Rahman narrates from his father, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a lump in my palms, and I said: O Prophet of Allah! This lump has troubled me; it comes between me and the hilt of the sword so that I cannot grip it, and the reins of my mount as well. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come close to me." So I came close to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Open your hand." So I opened it. Then he said: "Close it." So I closed it. He said: "Come close to me." So I came close. He said: "Open it." So I opened it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) blew into my palm, then placed his hand on the lump, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept rubbing it with his palm until he lifted his hand, and I do not see any trace of it.
