حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ مُكَسِّرٍ، ثنا أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لِلْجَنَّةِ بَابٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الرَّيَّانُ، يُدْعَى إِلَيْهِ الصَّائِمُونَ، يُقَالُ لَهُمْ: هَلُمُّوا، فَإِذَا دَخَلُوا أَغْلَقُوا ذَلِكَ الْبَابَ، فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مَعَهُمْ غَيْرُهُمْ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Paradise has a gate called al-Rayyan. Those who fast will be called to it, and it will be said to them: Come. Then when they have all entered, that gate will be closed, and no one else will enter along with them."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ زَيْدٍ السَّامِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ مُكَسِّرٍ، ثنا أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: «كَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يُصَلُّونَ وَهُمْ مُعْقِدُونَ أُزُرَهُمْ فِي أَرْقَابِهِمْ مِنْ ضِيقِ الْأُزُرِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray with their waist-wrappers tied around their necks, because the waist-wrappers were narrow (short)."
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، ثنا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ مُكَسِّرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ نَفْسَهَا فَسَكَتَ، فَقَامَتْ حَتَّى رَثَيْنَا لَهَا مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: زَوِّجْنِيهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: «مَا تُصْدِقُهَا؟» قَالَ: هَذِهِ الشَّمْلَةَ الَّتِي عَلَيَّ، لَيْسَ عِنْدِي غَيْرُهَا، قَدْ عَقَدَهَا عَلَى صَدْرِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ: «أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ عَرَّسْتَ، أَعِنْدَكَ غَيْرُهَا؟» قَالَ: لَا وَاللهِ، قَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَاطْلُبْ وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ» ، فَذَهَبَ فَمَكَثَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ، فَقَالَ: مَا وَجَدْتُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ، فَقَالَ: «مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» قَالَ: آيَةُ كَذَا وَآيَةُ كَذَا، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: «فَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَ عَلَى مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and offered herself to him in marriage, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. She kept standing until we felt pity for her because of how long she had been standing. Then a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Marry her to me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What will you give her as dowry (mahr)?" He said: This sheet that is on me; I have nothing besides it. He had tied that sheet around his chest. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if you marry, will you have anything besides it?" He said: No, by Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and look for something, even if it is only an iron ring." He went and stayed away for as long as Allah willed, then came back and said: I could not even find an iron ring. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you know of the Qur'an?" He said: Such-and-such verses. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have married her to you for what you have of the Qur'an."
