حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا لَقِينَا الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَاتَلْنَاهُمْ حَتَّى تَفَرَّقْنَا، وإِيَّاهُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَسَاءِ، وَكِلَا الْفَرِيقَيْنِ قَدْ أَعْيَى وَتَعِبَ، وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَمَلَّ، وَلَمْ يَعْيَ، لَمْ يَتْرُكْ شَاذَّةً وَلَا فَاذَّةً لِلْقَوْمِ إِلَّا قَتَلَهَا، فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْ صَبْرِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى هَذَا» ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ: وَاللهِ لَأَكُونَنَّ أَنَا صَاحِبَهُ حَتَّى أَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَا يَصِيرُ، فَجُرِحَ فَجَزِعَ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ، فَأَخَذَ سَيْفَهُ، فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى كَبِدِهِ، ثُمَّ اتَّكَأَ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَنْفَذَهُ مِنْ ظَهْرِهِ، فَجَاءَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِطَاعَةِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِمَعاصِي اللهِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We went out on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When we met the polytheists, we fought them until, by evening, we and they had dispersed, and both sides were worn out and exhausted. A man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither wearied nor tired; he did not leave a single straggler or isolated man of the enemy without killing him, and the people were amazed at his endurance (steadfastness). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would like to look at a man from the people of Hell, let him look at this man." At that a man said: By Allah, I will stay with him until I see what becomes of him. Then he was wounded and became panic-stricken at death; he took his sword, placed it on (the place of) his liver, and leaned on it in such a way that it came out through his back. The man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this, whereupon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, a servant does deeds of obedience to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, in the sight of people, while he has already been written with Allah among the people of Hell; and indeed, a servant does deeds of disobedience to Allah in the sight of people, while he has already been written with Allah among the people of Paradise."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «يُحْشَرُ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى أَرْضٍ بَيْضَاءَ كَخُبْزَةِ النِّقْيِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "On the Day of Resurrection, people will be gathered on a white land, (clean) like a loaf of pure white flour."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَرْيَمَ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ يَقُولُ: ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشُّؤْمُ فَقَالَ: «إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ فَفِي الْمَرْأَةِ، وَالْمَسْكَنِ، وَالْفَرَسِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said that ill omen was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If there is ill omen in anything, it may be in a woman, a house and a horse."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: «صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا وَالنَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ، فَجَعَلَ يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ الْقَهْقَرَى»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer while the people were behind him, and while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying, he kept moving backwards in that same state.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَنَا فَرَطُكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ، فَمَنْ وَرَدَ عَلَيَّ شَرِبَ، وَمَنْ شَرِبَ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ، أَلَا لَيَرِدَنَّ عَلَيَّ أَقْوَامٌ أَعْرِفُهُمْ بِعِرْفَانٍ، ثُمَّ يُحَالُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will reach the Pond before you. Whoever comes to me will drink, and whoever drinks will never be thirsty. Beware! Some people will come to me whom I will know well, then a barrier will be placed between me and them."
