Sayyiduna Zari' al-Abdi (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in the delegation of Abd al-Qays, says: When we reached Madinah, we began hurrying down from our mounts and kissing the hands and feet of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while al-Mundhir al-Ashajj waited until he reached his baggage bag and put on his clothes, then came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "There are two qualities in you that Allah loves: forbearance and deliberateness." He said: O Messenger of Allah, have I adopted them myself, or has Allah created me with them by nature? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, Allah created you with them." At this al-Mundhir said: All praise is for Allah, who created me with two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love. (It is said that the name of al-Ashajj was A'idh bin Amr.)

Umm Aban bint al-Wazi' relates from her father that her grandfather, Sayyiduna Zari' (may Allah be pleased with him), went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and took with him a son of his, or a nephew (his sister's son), who was insane. My grandfather related: When we reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah, I said: O Messenger of Allah, with me is a son of mine (or he said: my sister's son) who is insane; I have brought him to you so that you may supplicate to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring him to me." So I took him to him (peace and blessings be upon him); he was among the mounts. I untied his bonds, took off his travelling clothes and dressed him in two fine garments, then took him by the hand to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring him near me; put his back towards me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of his garment from above and below, then began striking his back until I saw the whiteness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) armpits, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Get out, O enemy of Allah! Get out, O enemy of Allah!" Then the boy began to look as a healthy person looks, no longer as he had been before. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him in front of himself, called for water, wiped his face and supplicated for him. After that supplication of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there was no one in that delegation in a better state than that boy.
