حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ مَجْزَأَةَ بْنِ زَاهِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَكَانَ أَبُوهُ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ الشَّجَرَةَ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَأُوقِدُ تَحْتَ الْقُدُورِ - أَوْ قَالَ: عَنِ الْقُدُورِ - بِلُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ إِذْ نَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ اللهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ»
Majza'ah relates from his father, Sayyiduna Zahir bin al-Aswad al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) (he was among those who gave the pledge under the tree at the Pledge of Ridwan), that he said: I was kindling fire under the cooking pots of donkey meat (or he said: (taking the meat out) of the pots) when suddenly the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out: "Allah Almighty forbids you the meat of donkeys."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا عِصْمَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْخَزَّازُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مَجْزَأَةَ بْنِ زَاهِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِصِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيُتِمَّ صَوْمَهُ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ صَائِمًا فَلْيُتِمَّ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ»
Majza'ah bin Zahir relates from his father, Sayyiduna Zahir (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the fast of Ashura' and said: "Whoever is fasting, let him complete his fast, and whoever is not fasting, let him complete the rest of his day (without eating)."
