Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw a thread on the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I said: What is this? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I use it to remind myself."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to tie a thread on his ring so as to remember something by it.
