It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu Mikhmar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition. At night we travelled as far as we were to travel, then we halted. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and said: "O Dhu Mikhmar!" I said: Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service. He (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the head of my she-camel and said: "Sit here, and do not be heedless tonight." So I held the head of the she-camel, but sleep overcame me and I slept, and the she-camel slipped away. I did not wake up until the heat of the sun. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me and said: "O Dhu Mikhmar!" I said: Here I am, O Messenger of Allah, at your service. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, tonight you were indeed heedless, just as I said." So we moved away from that place, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer. When he had finished the prayer, he supplicated that the she-camel be returned, and a whirlwind came driving it along. When the next day came and dawn broke, he ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave the adhan; then he ordered him and he gave the iqamah; then he led us in prayer. When he had finished the prayer, he said: "This was our (missed) prayer of yesterday." Then he began that day's (actual) prayer anew.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu Mikhbar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Soon you will make a secure peace with the Romans; then you and they together will fight a common enemy, and you will gain victory, spoils and safety. Then you will return until you camp in a green meadow with hillocks, and a man from the people of Christianity will raise a cross and say: The cross has prevailed. At this a man from the Muslims will become angry; he will go up to it and break it. At that point the Romans will act treacherously and gather for the great battle."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu Mikhbar, the nephew of the Negus (may Allah be pleased with him), that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "You will make a secure peace with the Romans for ten years. They will keep it for two years and act treacherously in the third, or they will keep it for four years and act treacherously in the fifth. Then an army of yours will descend in their city, and you and they together will fight an enemy who is behind you and behind them. You will fight that enemy and Allah will grant you victory. Then you will return with the reward and spoils you have gained, and you will camp in a meadow with hillocks. A speaker among you will say: Allah has prevailed, and a speaker among them will say: The cross has prevailed. This will pass back and forth between them, and the Muslims will become angry, while their cross is not far from them. That Muslim will rise towards their cross and break it, and they (the Romans) will come out against the one who broke their cross and strike his neck. At this that band of Muslims will rise to their weapons and the Romans will rise to their weapons, and they will kill that band of Muslims, who will be martyred. Then they will come to their king and say: We have spared you the sharpness and might of the Arabs, so what are we waiting for? So he (the king) will gather (an army) against you for the length of a woman's pregnancy; then they will come to you under eighty banners, and under each banner will be twelve thousand men."
