Sayyiduna Aws al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the day of Eid al-Fitr comes, the angels stand at the heads of the roads and call out: O Muslims! Set out early towards a Generous Lord who bestows good and then rewards it abundantly. You were commanded to stand in prayer at night and you stood, and you were commanded to fast in the day and you fasted, and you obeyed your Lord, so now receive your rewards. Then when the people have prayed, a caller calls out: Listen! Your Lord has forgiven you, so return to your homes rightly guided. This is the Day of Reward, and in the heavens that day is called the Day of Reward."
