حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ: «وُلِدُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، بَعْدَ الْفِيلِ بِعَشْرِ سِنِينَ، وَمَاتَ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى أَوْ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَثَلَاثِينَ، وَسِنُّهُ خَمْسٌ وَسَبْعونَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا»
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، يَوْمَ مَاتَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يَقُولُ: «اذْهَبِ ابْنَ عَوْفٍ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكْتَ صَفْوَتَها، وَسَبَقْتَ رَنْقَهَا»
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، يَوْمَ مَاتَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يَقُولُ: «اذْهَبْ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَقَدْ ذَهَبْتَ بِبِطْنَتِكَ لَمْ تَنْتَقِصْ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ»

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، يَوْمَ مَاتَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ يَقُولُ: «اذْهَبْ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَقَدْ ذَهَبْتَ بِبِطْنَتِكَ لَمْ تَنْتَقِصْ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ»
Yahya bin Bukayr said: Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was born ten years after the Year of the Elephant, and he died in the year 31 or 32 AH, when he was seventy-five (75) years old, and Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer.
Ibrahim bin Sa'd narrates from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I heard Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), on the day Abd al-Rahman bin Awf died, saying: "Go, O Ibn Awf! You attained the purity of this world and departed before its turbidity."
It is narrated from him as well that he said: I heard Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), on the day Abd al-Rahman bin Awf died, saying: "Go, O Abd al-Rahman bin Awf! You have departed with your full share (of reward), nothing of it diminished."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا فِي بَيْتِهَا، إِذْ سَمِعَتْ صَوْتًا رُجَّتْ مِنْهُ الْمَدِينَةُ، فَقَالَتْ: مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالُوا عِيرٌ قَدِمَتْ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ مِنَ الشَّامِ، وَكَانَتْ سَبْعَمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا: أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ حَبْوًا» فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَتَاهَا فَسَأَلَهَا عَمَّا بَلَغَهُ فَحَدَّثَتْهُ قَالَ: «فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكِ أَنَّهَا بِأَحْمَالِها وَأَقْتَابِهَا، وَأَحْلَاسِهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One day Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was in her house when she heard a sound that made Madinah shake, so she asked: What is this? The people said: It is a caravan coming from Syria for Abd al-Rahman bin Awf - and it consisted of seven hundred camels. Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Listen, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I saw Abd al-Rahman bin Awf entering Paradise crawling." This reached Abd al-Rahman, so he came to her and asked her about what had reached him, and she told him the whole matter. Abd al-Rahman said: "Then I make you my witness that this caravan, with its loads, its saddles and its saddle-cloths, is (charity) in the path of Allah."
حَّدَثَنا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: «تَصَدَّقَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ بِشَطْرِ مَالِهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ، ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا، ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خَمْسِمِائَةِ فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى أَلْفٍ وَخَمْسِمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ مَالِهِ مِنَ التِّجَارَةِ»
Al-Zuhri said: Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) gave half of his wealth in charity in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), namely four thousand; then he gave forty thousand in charity; then he gave forty thousand dinars in charity; then he provided five hundred horses in the path of Allah; then he provided one thousand five hundred camels in the path of Allah. Most of his wealth came from trade.
